Jodo Kast Scratchbuild (Finished)

There is an under-structure made of intersecting cardboard that the dome is glued to. This allows it to be supported on the horizontal circular dome piece that the face is glued around and makes it quite strong.

I see, thanks for the tip- I'll use that when building my scratch helmet. I now know why it failed ha ha

Resined the whole bucket inside and out, sanded it down, applied a layer of filler primer, wetsanded. Here's where I am. I can see the spots I need to fix now, mostly the cheeks.

Same deal with the earcaps. Resined and primed, they look pretty good, better than I expected.

Just had another night get away from me sanding this thing. Got the cheeks pretty near done. There's some spots that I sanded too much that are peeking through but I tried to fill them best I could. Also installed my custom built keyslot buttons. So ready to get some paint on this puppy so I can look and hunt better than that old fossil named Fett.

Thanks Rafal :)

One more treat for you guys before I leave this project at my apartment for the weekend. Cut out the visor today and got a few layers of primer and silver done. It's not perfect but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

The paint job looks good! Your custom scratches are awesome, but in some places these resembles with the ESB stencils (not that this is a bad thing). Just keep the good work coming!

this is turning out to be quite the bucket. The shape looks fantastic and you got it to look so smooth. You should be proud!

Keep it up!

Thanks guys, I am quite proud of how this is turning out. Rafal, you have a hand in this part of my build too. I'm loosely using your PP1 stencils to map things out like Bokklast did for his Dala helmet, I like how that one turned out. Any resemblance to the ESB paint is just subliminal on my part cause I'm an ESB guy.

Here's the fixed paint for the cheeks and lid (Thanks to Kibiri Foxx for the color correction ). Also got the upper cheeks done. Just the mandibles, keyslots and killstripes left! The back panels still look a little garish but they'll be dulled down with a brushing of wire wool and a layer of dullcote.

Here's the yellow paint. It's "striping yellow" from Rustoleum. I planned to mist it more with orange but my full can stopped propelling after two spritzes so that didn't happen. The florescent lights make it look a lot more yellow than it is and the brown/ blackwash should darken it up considerably too.

And with natural light...

With the blueness of the back panels and the more intense yellow it's actually a bit more of a cross between the TEOD and the Decipher version.

Thanks!

Here's the weathering revealed and a try-on for sizing. The padding is a little much in the top so it's riding a little high, plus it looks a bit slim without earcaps. Just have the ears and killstripes to finish tonight and tomorrow morning.

I love it! As you said, the yellow is too yellow, but maybe because we are too familiar with the BF colors. Keep up the excellent work!

Here's some shots with the final weathering in natural light. You can see the brown really darkened the mandibles up to orange nicely.
