JB Project/ FPH Helmet

You gotta put the black specs around the kills !!!!

My point of view is this ...

It really is subjective. There are certainly a few signature scratches that we can prove from stills that were not there in the production of the film. But seriously, 90 + % of them, cannot be . So we have the AoSW/C4 exhibit. It's what the majority of fans have come to expect is "canon".

It's only the hard core Fett fanatic that will know the story on this, sure. But for the sake of the most intricate costume that can be assembled for JB, the more detail the better IMO. As long as it can be pointed out on the "Hero" helmet from yesteryear, anywhere in it's history, (proven to exist on it), it just makes for more of an interesting piece, as highly detailed of a masterpiece as possible for posterity. Within reason of course. NO BLUE MARKER

Remember, there will be a lot of "Star Wars Fans" seeing this suit over the upcoming years (not just "Fett Fans"). Any hard core SW fan is all about George Lucas' vision of the galaxy after the fall of the republic and everything in it - old, dirty, beaten up, and worn. Going the extra mile with other scratches and damage we see on the helmet today on exhibit, adds more to the look and feel of the character.

Another thing to consider - when it was originally painted for the film, they never knew in a million years that it would be scrutinized up close and personal, by thousands of fans. It was meant for a few minutes in a movie for a tertiary character. So, given that perspective, some would probably be a little disappointed in seeing the 1979 ESB "Hero" up close and personal, when we've been looking at AoSW exhibit photos for 10 years or more  Again, it just makes for a much more interesting masterpiece in the end.

Besides ...

Mr. Bulloch has sustained some of his own dents, dings, and gouges over the last 25 years, why should his suit not match ;) ( all in fun Mr. Bulloch ;) )

The detail on that dent is AMAZING! W:eek:W!!!
Please keep posting pics of this Master Class paint job!
Great stuff Alex!

I think the helmet's looking great so far, but personally I would prefer it to be pure ESB.

I feel the same, for me personally, the markings post ESB were a result of poor handling and abuse and I am painfully reminded of that every time I see this helmet on display. That said, I can appreciate the helmet for what it is as it is TODAY and I can understand why one would want to recreate their helmet as such. Beauty after all, is in the eye of the beholder  JB will love it and cherish it either way ;) Spidey, you rock dude...this is the finest helmet I have ever seen (y)

I thought JB asked for it to be ESB, so unless he specifically said to add what ever damage you like and not to add what you don't I don't see why pure ESB is being denied here. Give him what he asks for.

Lets look at another angle ...

If he had asked for ROTJ - we would STILL b using MoM for reference. Right?

And the MoM helmet has gone through just as many years of abuse since production as the ESB "Hero" has. Who wants to be the guy, who's going to pick and choose, with what little "clear" screen shot reference there is for the ROTJ helmet, which dent, scratch, ding, or gouge ... was actually on the helmet during filming/production? That's a crazier paint job than the ESB. It's not sensible. We use, what we "know". What is "tangible".

In the case of the ESB differences between filming and exhibit ... there's maybe 4 or 5 signature scratches that could be debated between screen / exhibit. Other than that, it's all of the "little" stuff, that can't be proven either way because of lack of reference. So being that it's only 4 or 5 scratches, it is really pointless to debate. there is always going to be guess work involved. And judgement.

When you get right down to it, he asked for ESB. What this means is, the version of Boba Fett that is green, not the "Technicolor Terror". It's not as narrow of a definition as you're making it sound. If he had asked for Pre-pro, he would have received that version. And there is even LESS reference available for that one. There will always be creative liberties ... because in most cases, there is little choice. Again, lack of reference. That is why it is, "A Replica".

We may be TDH, but we don't have "ALL" the answers. Not yet anyway

So the simple answer to your question is ... because there is no " TRUE" ESB. If you show me one suit that has originated from this board that is 100% accurate to either version, I'll find a way to finance buying it. Because it probably isn't fan made, and came from a midnight run to the archives ;) And I don't mean this as any disrespect at all to anyone. This only means, that there is no way any of us will achieve it 100%. At least not yet. It's only thanks to TDh that we've come this far. But we're not perfect.

So, I suppose I'm trying to say, that you're question really should be rephrased. After all, he's not being *denied* anything  He said he'd really like to have a Fett suit of his very own. TDH stepped up to the plate, and asked "Which Movie Version" ? He said ESB. So, we're *giving it* to him ;) Where is he being denied anything ??

Denied?

JB is getting what will be the BEST ESB Fett costume to date....

every maker has revised...re sculpted and done a new version for this project

FP V3 and FPH and wait till you see the new Gauntlets
MOW...special custom jet pack and blasters
and the list goes on...

the painters...Superjedi, Slave1pilot, Spidey, Bobamaker and myself all doing the best work possible

will it be perfect...no...a PERFECT ESB is impossible...We dont have enough ref pics

bottom line...we need to celebrate this project!!!

We may not have enough references to make it a 100% perfect ESB helmet but we have ones like KaanE showed where some of that damage was clearly NOT on the helmet.

All I am saying is that it was said that he requested an ESB costume. From my understanding , you give customers what they ask for, not what you want to give them.

Wait a minute, Darth Miller, did you just PM me asking me to edit my post because you guys aren't doing what you said you were going to do? JB wouldn't be asking you if everything was going ok if it was being done right to begin with.

Even if it's volounteer work if you say you're going to do something, do what you say you're going to do.

Zombierepellent - you're way out of line.

I've for one, have really tried to be cool with you man. I really don't understand what YOUR problem is here? It's like, you're not even reading our posts.

Here it is, plain and simple man. And I'm sorry I have to say it this way, but you have sort of forced the issue.

#1 - Jeremy Bulloch IS NOT A CUSTOMER dude? What part of that are you not getting here ? He is being graciously "Given" a suit. $6000 worth. At no charge to him. Why is it that you are pressing that this is a matter of bad customer service or something?

#2 - you most likely received a PM about your comments, because it was our hopes (including the administration of TDH), to keep this thread, and all others associated with the JB Project - clean and "heckle free", for posterity. These threads were going to be presented "TO HIM" with his suit in the form of a "Year Book", chronicling the build up of his suit . So you were being asked, not to convolute the thread, and stay "On-Topic". Which is a show off thread - NOT A DEBATE.

#3 - You, are not the one, who is putting the work into this, nor having to make the MANY decisions associated with every grueling step of this process / project. It's not as easy as you think. We're trying to put together a museum quality suit, that some take years to assemble (myself included) in a matter of 3 months, on top of our REAL work, and REAL life.

I for one, would really appreciate YOU having a little more understanding, and refrain from "calling people out" on things that you really have no control over anyway.

You know good and well that he PM'd you. If you've got a PM from him, He PM'd you  That was an asinine thing to post. It's statements like this that send up all the little red flags, and sounds the bells and whistles, that you're "TRYING" to be a troublemaker for whatever the reason. You're making yourself look really bad now. I'm not sure what your ulterior motive is, but statements like you're making in light of the "charity" of this project, is bound to spark a nasty argument, and / or flame war, and I think you know that. If you don't think it's being done right, that is your opinion. And YOUR opinion only. You've made it clear that you don't agree. You should have left it at that.

Again, I'm sorry to sound this way, but your acting like you "don't get it" just isn't doing it for me anymore. I would have sent you a PM myself, but I see you're trying to cause trouble by making private matters public. "Outting" Darthmiller for his efforts to "diffuse" a possible flame war using the PM system, is in serious bad form. This is what the administration urges us to do. So here it is, for all to see (y)

Thanks

FP

I'm speechless, this is a gesture, not just any gesture but one of the most incredible and intricate gestures ever, you've got a group of amazingly talented people coming together for a common cause, to present the guy who all those years back brought to life the character who forms the very basis of this forum, with his own suit made as I said before by the good people here who are giving up their own time and money to make it as fantastic as possible, its a great great thing and personally I think every individual artist who is contributing has his/her own license to lay down whatever they feel is right, I sincerely doubt Jeremy would ever turn around after all this and say 'yeh its good and all guys but your left off this scratch' Guys carry on doing what your doing, your making us all proud to be TDH'ers :cheers

Alex, this is one of the best paint-ups I have ever seen and if you and or others 'want' to put a little damage here and there as you see fit from MOM exhibit ref material? well you Jeffing well do it!

So lets get back to the 'show off' thread and get some more pretty pictures up Alex... ;)

We had hoped to print up all of these threads and present them to Jeremy in a book form along with pictures of progress pics etc...

I did PM ZR..in hopes of having him change up some of the words he selected while trying to give feedback to us.

In the end we gladly accept feedback ,ideas and suggestions on this project...

I would hope that if anyone has issues with any "choice" we make or any honest Mistake that you could PM the artist in private instead of calling him out.

Hey..none of us are perfect

anyway...it is what it is

Alex...keep up the great work man!!!!

Alex that dent is perfect!! I kept hearing about this "awesome" dent paintjob, and kept checking this thread only to be disappointed by lack of pics:lol: It was certainly worth the wait. Saving those as reference pics. The only problem, is it makes me want to redo my dent now:(
