    J kids ESB bucket, (finished)

    UPDATE 3-23 (finished)
Well, I finally got this thing nearly complete!! Have to add a stalk & RF & a few minor rust spots, but for all intents & purposes, its finished. It isn't perfect, but I'm really jazzed about how it turned out, (never knew I had it in me!!!) I need to thank alot of people for helping me with this:

Vashdampe: thanx for the decals, they are great!!!
Secol fett: THanx for finding the borden connector and thanx for hosting my pics!!!
Braks: THanx for hooking me up with a borden connector!
    Bobo: thanx for the lights
TK409: THanx for the killstripe template bud!

*Special thanx to RS for the discovery of the paints and painting techniques!!! I didn't use all the paints cause I couldn't find em all , but the ones I did get my hands on are awesome!!! Especially greatfull for the POG!!!

*Very special thanx to FP for the MSH2!!! I wouldn't upgrade this baby unless someone made a pull directly from the original ESB bucket, & even then, I might have to think about it

*Lastly, thanx to all who gave encouragement & comments & thanx to TDH. I picked up so many tips/tricks/&techniques that its impossible to thank you all personally, but I'm sincerely greatfull to TDH

    Thanx everybody!!!!
    Damian

    End update............................................ ............

Hey everybody. I've been working on my MSH2 & thought I'd show some progress pics. It still has a loooong way to go, but I'm fairly happy w/ how its turning out so far. As usual, my pics really suck (gotta get a decent camera one of these days) Please LMK what you think, and be honest!!!! Thanx for looking,
    Damian

Thanx for the comments guys!!! I added the kill stripes & a bit more weathering tonite. What do you think??? Personallly I think they look a bit too bright, but I haven't dull coated it yet, so maybe I'll get lucky & they'll be OK. Thanx again for the comments,

Thanx so much for the comments so far everyone!!! I really appreciate it!!(keeps me goin!!! ) heres some more crummy pics I'm not shure if I'm gonna redo the back or not. I think its pretty decent, but I think I could do better. Some areas seem really good, while others to be off by quite a bit. Man, I never realized what a friggin mess the back of the bucket is!!!! So much weathering, its hard to keep it all strait!!! I know it could be more accurate, but I think it gives the overall ESB feel. What do you guys think??? THanx for looking,

Re: J kids ESB bucket, (progress pics, update 3-11)

Thanx again for all the comments & support guys, heres some more progress pics. I stuck the red on it today, (actually had to redo it twice now ) but I think I finally got it looking ok. I shoulda just waited & got the boxcar red as Lee suggests, but I won't have alot of time to work on this for a while, and impatience got the best of me, so I custom mixed the red...what a project!!! Heres a few diff. pics in diff. lighting. I still gotta scuff it & add a bunch more weathering, but I think its getting there. What ya think???
    thanx for looking,

The visor men, have you seen the visor?

Finding the right material to make the visor is still the most difficult challenge. Here in Europe, we don't have the required dark green faceshield. We have to order it in the US, but most of dealers don't sell outside of the US.

    WW!!!
That is definately one of the best ESB helmets we've ever seen.
Heres a question for you, how did you do the weathering? Did you draw on the damage like some do?
Keep up the Great work man.

Re: J kids ESB bucket, (finnished)

Thanx guys Like I said before, it really means alot!!! BH185: Yeah, I took alot of time drawing the damage on with a soft pencil first, then I used liquid mask with a tiny applicator, then paint the next color. I really used all kinds of techniques for the damage, scratchthrough, topical, and pastels, but for the majority, I used the reveal with liquid mask. If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them Thanx again for the comments

Jango's Kid, all I have to say is.... !!!

That is one killer ESB helmet dude, I can't believe that you made it look so good. I know I'm just adding to all the "ooh's and aah's" from this thread said by everyone! But you deserve it!

I hope my lights work well with this amazing bucket. If you get a chance, would you be able to take some pics of the lights installed? FP did an awesome job casting that thing (absolutely amazing), but you made it come to life!

Keep on doin' what you're doin!

the stuff I used is called Incredible white mask-liquid frisket. I got mine at hobby Lobby, but have seen it other places too. it comes in a small bottle. look in the art section of your local hobby store, next to the artists paints.

Sorry bud, I don't actually have my RF done yet. I dropped the darn thing & cracked it pretty bad I'm still debating on what is the best way to fix it. But rest assured, I'll post a pic as soon as I get it fixed & on my bucket
