I love him so much, I bronzed him!
So, I got a wild hair and did cold cast Boba helmet in bronze! When I do a normal aluminum helmet, I buy 5 pounds of aluminum and I can get about 10 helmets out of that. To make this helmet, I used 2 pounds of bronze powder! 1 pound of bronze powder costs about $22. Yep, this helmet comes in at about 2 pounds heaver than a normal helmet at a cost of over $40 for the bronze. But, I think it is well worth it. What do you think? If you would like one, please drop me a line.

Wow that's cool, looks better than I thought it would. I can't help think it would make a great base for a steam Punk Fett:lol
Re: I love him so much, I bronzed him!
you were talking about doing that a while back, but you couldn't get it to cure correctly. glad to see you got one to do it finally.
Re: I love him so much, I bronzed him!
Interesting...I might want one lol...not sure how I feal about it...would you be able to CC a stalk and rangefinder?
Re: I love him so much, I bronzed him!
would you really want a resin stalk over a metal one?
Re: I love him so much, I bronzed him!
That's cool! Perfect for a steam punk version, as mentioned. :)

You know I dont know...I think Id leave it untouched really...as a display like a bronze statue....so maybe a bronze metal stalk?
Re: I love him so much, I bronzed him!
yep i agree display it like a statue, with a nice bronze weathering, and may be a visor as well, even a gold/bronze lens tint instead of a dark one, that would be be top notch.
Re: I love him so much, I bronzed him!
Yeh I dont even want a lense in it just want it like it sits with an RF. I looked at it again...but really a GMH in Bronze would be ****
Re: I love him so much, I bronzed him!
Hey, that's great! Did you find a finer mesh of bronze, or figure out how to use the more coarse powder? Did you have any problems with consistency of the powder throughout the mold?
Would certainly look nice with a bronze stalk and bronze RF cap shell.
Re: I love him so much, I bronzed him!
A bronze RF stalk would be nice maybe for show. I could put some sort of rod in it when I cast it. Just hard to keep the rod from showing.
Rich, I got the bronze from the link you sent me last year. It's about 325 mesh. The only problem and it's not really a problem is that I had to do the cold cast in 2 layers and not 1 like I normally do. The bronze would not stay suspended in the resin very well. It kept going to the bottom.

Wow...! I really like the look Bill. :thumbsup
