Hey all, I just wanted to let you know i got a dp 95 bucket from the bay for 50 bucks, shipping included. :) i am so thrilled. I'm just starting out, and I have a rubies, which kinda sucks, so that will be my first try, and then the dp will be the finished product, until i can eventually afford one of the new fp buckets. I'll post pics when i get it...i'm totally thrilled :)

Yeah, use that Rubies as the tester. As TF says, that DP can look nice with the right work. Check the threads. I know I have some progress threads on one I did and I am sure there are other (better) ones than mine. Holler if you need help.

And, welcome to TDH!!!

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. I am totally psyched for it to come, so i can oogle over it :p also, if anyone knows of a specific thread on here that is very detailed on painting a helmet, please leave it for me. i want to try and paint my pos Rubie's helmet and see how i do, but i need some help before i start. thanks all.

p.s. - what is the easiest way to get the plastic "visor" off? on the rubies i used a hobby knife, but it didn't cut very straight, and after lots of sanding, still doesn't quite look right. thanks in advance for any help here :)

VB, use the search feature button located on the upper right of the board, it will provide links for most if not all your queries. And if you look carefully at the top 2 posts of this very same Helmet section, you'll find 2 sticky threads on painting the helm.

As for cutting plastic, i'd highly recommend you get/use a dremel or similar rotary tool. It's a most worthwhile investment and will pay off in the long run when you do more costumes.

Good luck and stay safe,

Tim.

Note, be very careful if you choose to replace the visor. Don't just cut it out, you'll crack it at the corners. I speak from personal experience.

hey guys...just wanted to update. I GOT IT TODAY!!!! I'M TOTALLY THRILLED!!! it's sooooo much better than the rubie's. It's a lil smaller, but definitely more realistic and detailed and just overall better. also sturdier. well, i'll add pics later. gotta go.
