Did you just sand all the paint of or what?
This seriously started out as a Hasbro Fett helmet? Wow!
Yeah i sanded the whole dome andd took of the kill stripes and silver battle damage as you can see the colour of the dome was green to start, and then gave the out side a qwick spray with flat white , unfortinantly my camera was not working when i began this prodject so i could not document the first steps.
So you've narrowed the horizontal eye part to give it the right squint. What else did you cut or trim?
I remade every peice that you see, the dome is the only original peice i trimed the back to get the right hight and length, the whole mandibles the side burns even cut out the key slot and the surounding frame, im making the ears and range finder stork at the moment and filling the gaps with epoxy ill add some pics to night

Here are all the parts that i hav removed from the original and then replacedIf you havent seen the hasbro B.F in person you might not relise how over sized the ears and the key slots are and the obvious massive vizor the small lower cheaks and the back plate half an inch to long so out of the $95 That the lid cost me im only using about $25 worth the rest is going in the bin.
Any way im starting to paint to day still cant deside witch version to do but am leaning towards ESB.
Ok ive pulled the right ear of done a whole lot of work all over this , Iv e added the flat peices for were the ears are to bee placed iveconter sunk stong magnets in all the flat peices and the earss and the range finder atachstalk housing then filled over them all so it will all hold together nicly with out glueing or skrewing them in placeIalso have put a few hours of work in redoing the dent. nxt another sand and 1 more coat of primer then to a=start painting i have desided to go for the pre pro
style the one were he has the yellow and brick red gaunts.
I cant wait to paint this up.
Can any one help me out , I need to find some refrence pics onthe pre pro helmet the one wth the yellow gauntlets ive been looking and no luck.

It is a link ;-)
you paid $95 for the hasbro helmet? please say you are kidding. Target has these for 30 bucks!
he is in the land of Oz so things are expensive there...............the price you pay for being that far away from everyone else.
Not the targets in Australia! and i also paid that for the hasbro clone trooper , I know its a rip, you can getm on ebay around the $30 mark as well.
I am an impulse buyer if i see it and have the money in my poket any thing fett il buy

I am debating weather to paint this in either the "sandy" Helmet seeing now that F,P and Art are offering that legendery piece witch i hope to get one so i wont need two of the same paint styles or mabey i do, any way big decision, witch style.
Id just but down the helmet after cuting the battle damage groves out when i saw there post , o well i can just fill my groves back in

Does any one know if there are refrence shots of the sandy helmet if been goyng through the gallery and im not having any luck,
Check under "".
There's 2 pics on page 5 of the "Pre-Pro3" page.
There are a few more floating around also. One is from a promo shoot and two or three more of it all busted up sitting on a dusty shelf in the LFL Archives with a couple others.
BTW, I've always had a softspot for the Sandy even with all of it's wicked fuggliness.
Thanks mate i did find them it would be hard tomake an acurate paint job frm those pics, I not 100% on witch way to go but i may even do the good old E,S,B .
its to hard to decide. grrrrrr so many posibilities
Right, it's hard to see where the actual paintjob ends and the wear and tear begins. It's definately the black sheep, odd man out of the original six helmets.
Can any one tell me the name of the krylon colors that is for most used on the real rotj helmet color dome and cheeks
Ive got the kill stripes downim realy undesided on wether to take a belt sander to this whole thing strip her back to bare and start painting again........ Idont know ....Its a hard helmet to replicate due to the fact that the in refrence pics it looks like it had been used as a door stop at skywalker ranch for the last 25 year and the few pics of it new the weathering on it seams to be difrent each shoot. Mabey im just making excuses for the fact that im doing a bad job.

dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm why the hec did that photo get atached that suxxxxxxxxxxxx.
some one please tell me how i can delete the pic off that guy, who ever he is
You are doing a very fine job. lookforwd to seeing the finished product.
Your first painting job is a learning experience. So don't sweat it. The guys here who get commisioned for helmets have done multiple paint jobs to get where they are... and remember that you're doing a helmet based only off photo stills. It's not like the ESB paint job that has templates available here. You're doing a good job!
Yeah man, I think it's looking good.
Thanks for the kind words all , Still cant work out how to remove the pic of that "strapping young lad"
any way im feeling a bit beter about the paint job so thnx again guys
Ive got the back paintedand fixed up the kill stripes to make it look like the real sandy lid,and i removed the first magnets that were not quite stong enough added some super strong magnets as the atachment method for the ears then i filled over them with 2 part epoxy nxt to sand over them and paint the red on the equatoral strip
I can't believe that used to be a hasbro helmet
Im having trouble loading pics up , and for some reson the screen is showing a white page with pasic font insted of the usual black pages is any one else haviong this problem?
very nice job on the hasbro mod ...doing the exact same mod .....only i got mine apart a little better
The back panels u painted on are ROTJ not ESB which you have going on the rest of the helmet...not sure if you knew that or not....
Wow, I was just looking at those in TRU with my son a few days ago and wondering how accurate they were.
That is a really great job you are doing with it! It is certainly a difficult paint job.
I am waiting to be able to post in the Cargo Hold to get one of the awesome helmets being offered now.
Maybe I will pick up one of these toys to practice painting...
Keep up he good work and the posts of your progress!
you talking about the PP2v2 youll have to excuse me for mistaking it with the yellow kill stripes sandys had the red/orange not yellow
![]()
Yes in all fair nes i did get the colours a bit off i did do the stipes orange over yellow shouldhav been over red, any way ive been pulling a few out off the mould and im going to do the same sceam just with closer colours , I also sanded the hell out of one got it smooth am moving the arows over 2 mls and just neatn in the whole thingup and going to rest the mould with the cleaned up version
Ok so what ive done here is with the casts i made keept one of them as it came out just cleaned it up, an of the other 2 i cut themm up and am in the middle of making one as close to the real thing as pos , basicliy changed all the mesurements using photos and my jango asok and my old mystery as refrences(only), After getting all the sizes right i thort i was pretty happy with it exept for the dome shape from birds eye veiw so ive cut the dome off again and used a mix of expoxy filler and fiber glass resin mixed em together so they can be painted on then applied and worked it to the shape it should be, its a lot of work but iv put this much time in it so far i may as well get it right im all so making the ears up , at the right size and a 2 sets of the larger wof size for the hasbro mod and its resin copy i might as well finish them astempting as it is to cut them both up aswell and get the ears the right size but ill limit my self,
I am amazed at what you have been able to do so far!
Thanx Elusive
I have placed the helmet ive made next to my mystery helmet(Iadded the ear platforms on my self) for comparison onlyI have painstakinly cut it up trimed it down heated it up and cooled it downmany times now and i think ihave almost gotten it right
,Getting the profile and the and the egg shape on the dome tok alot of work , i hope you guys like it ,I know each step in this evolution of this build i think i have it right but this thime i think i rely have it coverd, in the middle of scratching up some ears at the mo.
Just to reitterate all of this helmet is made by me nothing has been used from any one elses build oriinaly the dome was from a hasbro fett 2 genarations agoand i have extensivly remade that , the mystery is for comparison only ..
Thanx for reading
