    How should the helmat fit?

OK. I am building a fiberglass helmet using the WOF plans as my guide. I have the helmet done to the point of sanding, bondo-ing and primer coating. If I put on the helmet as is w/o any inner padding, the eye slit lines up w/ my eyes, but the bottoms of the ears will be hitting my shoulder once I have armor on. If I add padding, my site will be impaired. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks

The WOF templates are good, how ever the proportions are wrong, the ears are way to big, id sugest if you can look up Rafalfetts templates there pretty close to accurate size use themas a guid on how high to trim the sides, even make the ears from Rafs templates and add them ,

    either way good luck,

BGHunter. I printed out the rafalfett's templates and compared them to my WOF build. Based on rafalfett's templates my dome should be about a half inch higher which would solve my problem. Other changes would be more difficult, but is there a consensus that rafalfetts are more accurate?

    Thanks

I used reference images from the TDH Gallery to do my templates and I can say that the measurements are pretty close (thanks again James (BGHunter) for confirming that I was on the right track). Here is the thread with the making of the template ==> Boba Fett Helmet Template Project and my first build using my own templates ==> Making the First Rafal Works Helmet.

    I hope it helps!

    RafelFett:

I had nearly finished my fiberglass helmet using the WOF templates. Something seemed wrong, so I did the initial post here and was directed to your thread. It did not take long to realize your templates were much more accurate. I ended up cutting the helmet into several pieces, salvaging what I could, then putting it all back together using your templates. The look and fit much is better. Big THANK YOU to you or sharing your efforts with the board.
