UPDATE: the epoxy didn't hold and the lower half of the left ear is now disconnected from the the helmet.
I definitely prefer using bolts. I use my Dremel to carve out little dish shapes on the backs of the ear pieces and use JB Weld to secure some bolts. I do it so that all that shows is the threads.
Then I drill holes through the sides of the helmet and attach the ears using nuts/washers.
I've done several helmets this way and they stay on.![]()
****... i should have asked before trying to attach them... thanks though, i might have to repaint my hwole bucket.
maybe one of you more skilled bucket-men here on TDH could do something with this. i leave for the Navy on the 21st so i won't have the time to be messing with this helmet myself unless you guys could give me some tips that are doable in 4 days.
this is my dilemma:
you can see clear through it.
you can also make deep gashes and mix up a resin and put um to gether
how i didnt my MOW gauntlets
i think i might just bolt it in. the problem was that i tried to epoxy two painted sides. pops says that doesn't work.
no you gotta take the paint off first
the epoxy took all the paint off.
once you clean all that epoxy off, I recommend the Bolt method, or using the magnets method.
alright, thanks guys. i think i'll do that then, time to break the trusty dremel and get some JB weld.
