Help,Mystery helmet parts wanted.

New Hunter
Hi everyone:) ,

I'm just about to embark on painting a mystery helmet I've managed to source, but I have one problem,I need the ear peices, range finder & stalk,I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of obtaining them,or if someone has a spare lot they wanna sell?.

All I have is the bucket, none of the 'greeblies',if anyone can help, that'll be great?.

many thanks .

Wlecome to TDH!

You can get a stalk from a few places. Try bkbt if you want aluminum. Or Bobamaker if you want resin. There are others as well. Bobamaker also makes nice rangefinders. You can get them hollow or pre finished in both ESB and RotJ.

As for ears you may want to ask any of the bucket makers around here if they will whip up some ears for you. You could try SgtFang, Marrowsun, Bobamaker, or BKBT. Again I am sure there are others but that should be enough to get you started on your search.

That's great,I'll give it a try.

First I've gotta get the helmet straight,My freind sold it to me,it's a mystery for sure, I think he bought it off ebay, needs a bit of tidying up,but in my opinion it's unwearable, due to it being quite heavy and also the glassing on the inside is rough as a donkeys a**,to stop people getting ripped to shreds wearing it,the guy who made the helmet painted the inside with some kind of rubber/tar like paint (which stinks!),I'm going to get the helmet perfect, then have a go at taking a mold of it!,then I'll be able to troop in it!:)

some people might not think molding a mystery helmet is such a hot idea. I can understand cleaning it up, but some people are going to read that and get upset.

Heh! If you got it from Amiad, mold away! 8) 8) (we need an "evil grin" smiley!)

...or you can go to a lot less trouble and just get a real MH from me that comes with everything but the visor and RF stalk. :cheers

Ahmen to that:cheers

Just curious if you have pictures to what this thing looks like now.

Also, to be honest getting a fett helmet from Sarge is your best bet if you still need all those pieces. I guarantee you'll spend at least $30 to get all those pieces, maybe even more if you end up having to get higher end replacements (which wouldn't be a bad thing ie. aluminum or steel stalk, hollow rangefinder, cold cast ears, etc.).

Sarge is selling helmets for $90-100 i think. I got one coming in the mail, but there are tons of people out there that can already vouch for the quality.

You need to do some modest prep work before painting it, but you won't have to deal with a crummy recast, if the one you have actually has amiadfilter roots.

I don't wanna go upsetting anyone recasting this mystery helmet, from what I can gather though,it has come from a recaster,I'll find out from my freind who he got it from and let you guys.

Sarge, thanks for the offer of purchasing a helmet from you,if you could pm a price + shipping to the UK,that'll be great?.

I'm gonna call my buddy now a find out who he got it from and let you all know.

Cheers.

Well, just got off the phone from calling my buddy, and it's a amiadfilter bucket,,it did come with the ear parts, but they were so badly cast that not much could be done with them!:( .

I'm not too upset about the bucket as it can be worked on,and the price i paid was very, very small,£30 which is around $50 (i think).Like I said previously,it is quite heavy and the inside in too smelly and sharp to wear,if no one has any objection, and I've got the time,I might take a mold of it and paint the cast in ROTJ scheme, and also buy a sgtfang helmet and do my favorite fett helmet ever (ESB),at least I'll know where it came from and it'll be good quality!:) .

What do you all think,i don't want to tread on anyones toes?.:cheers

Does anyone know where the amiadfilter helmet was cast from?.

I'll try and get some piccy's on here,My digi camera is busted at the moment, but I got a digi camcorder that takes stills from the wife for Xmas, but I need to get a memory card for it first,as it has no internal memory,so when I get that.I'll hopefully get some piccy's on here!.

Cheers.

I always thought the Amiadfilter was a Don Post Deluxe re-cast, but the problem is his work has always been so god-awful as far as quality goes. Like you said, most people that have gotten his helment (if that's what you want to call it) get it the same way you did, full of fiberglass thorns like some medieval torture device. Then on top of it it sounds like somebody sprayed the inside with some rubberized automotive trunk spray. If I were you sell it on ebay and get one from SGTF, you can't go wrong.(y)

Defo looks more like the mystery rather than a DP delux, the DP's looked quite tall and a bit slimmer if I remember?.

Good and bad news though, the good news is that my friend found the ear parts, stalk and range finder:) ,the bad news i they are cast ****,my friend told me that he threw them in a draw in his garage and forgot about them because they needed too much cleaning up,I'll see if I can do anything with them, they need a hell of alot of sanding:( !.
