Helmet Search

I've looked around on a few places of where to get a helmet for my mandalorian costume. I am not making a Boba Fett costume or a Jango Fett costume. A custom costume is more of the way to put it. But yeah I am seeking out a place where to get a good helmet for myself. I found a site called bobamaker where the guy makes fiber-glass helmets but a guy told me that fiber-glass is a little heavier. So I am still on the hunt for a helmet. Any ideas of where I can get a good mandalorian helmet?

Have you tried Ebay? There are usually an abundace of Don Post helmets there on offer. usually around 30 USD. These are made out of vinyl and so while they are very light they are also way too small. It really depends on the size of your head.

Otherwise i would recommend you getting a fibreglass helmet because they aren't that heavy really.. you get used to the weight and it also depends a lot on the padding you use on the inside.

Bobamaker helmets are fantastic, mine arrived last week. I don't have any point of comparison, but it didn't feel too heavy to me at all.

He will also make them without the dent (as he did with mine), or the "mole" on the cheek (again like mine), if you're going for a true custom mando (as the dent is a Boba Fett thing).

If you can afford the BM (as it is quite pricey) then I would definitely recommend it

If you're looking for an economical custom to start with, you can also go for a Bradleyfett kit. My understanding is that these are not as small as, say, a modified Rubies Jango or DP. Requires assembly from three molded plastic parts, but there are some people on this board and on the Mandalorian Mercs board who have done amazing things with them. A Rubies was too small for my wife, so I'm going this route for her custom. Try sending him a PM from the Mercs board.

Another bet is to get a Sgt Fang mystery helmet and fill the dent. Again, great helmet and at a great price. He can be reached at sgtfang@aol.com.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

Id say Sgt fang its probly your best bet.. or a DP for 30 if your doing a mando why spend alot of money on a boba accurate helmet. BM is really nice but if your doing a custom perhapes not worth it.

Thanks guys all of what you said has helped me put more of an interest of where I can get a good looking mandalorian helmet. A custom one of mine that I am figuring through with pictures and all that is helping me decide of where I can get one and how long it can take for arrival. I have high hopes of getting one and customizing it myself to make it look like a great looking helmet for my costume. I have however, checked on Rubies and people have told me of it's size and all that so I see what I can go through with contacting some people on where I can get a good size helmet for my costume. I am planing on getting the chest, stomach, and neck armor from Bobamaker as it seems a good asking price for me to get from him. If any more sudjestions come up with helmets please don't hesitate to send them my way....thanks a bunch and thanks for the warm welcome Madmartigan.

i'd suggest you go with the bradley helmet. it does come in three pieces but it doesn't seem like a difficult project with the right glue and some bondo. if you want to do some armor yourself and keep your costume budget down, do a search for "wof templates." alan has done an amazing job with making it easy to make your own set of armor using a garbage can.

i'm not trying to dissuade you from buying bobamaker. his stuff is top-notch, real quality. but for a custom, there are some more options available.

Yeah I have high hopes of doing chest, neck, and stomach peaces for my custom mandalorian armor. Those are pratically the only peaces of armor I will have aside from some straps around my arms that I will reveal in due time.
