Hi guys. So I have got my beautifully painted, awesomely crafted FPH. What methods would members recommend to get the best fit for trooping?
Foam padding? Hard hat liner? Should I do I need a strap?
All comments would be good. I want to troop this the first week of November, so one last push and I should be there!

I'm interested to hear the progress on this thread to. Would help out alot on my Jango and Snowtrooper helmet. Especially.

I like it, like the MR lining. I think I would like a strap if I had that type of lining. I would also have to mod it by adding a hole for the RF stalk to ease removal for transporting.
Hey Rob,
I used thin 5mm thick foam to pad the circumference of the lid at forehead level. To get the correct fit, I then added extra layers to either the front or back.
I use the padding vadr_h8r has posted with this ebay-link. It works out great and you can easily combine it with the method Ronin677 describes.
If needed. Depends on your heads circumference. ;-)

I considered getting one of the Fenix Props helmet liners too! But is that enough to get rid of the bobble-head effect?
It's really similar looking to what my MR looks like inside, you'll still need something to keep the bobble head effect down. I want to find something that still looks cool but is functional as well. I'm probably going to gut the inside of a skateboard helmet or something similar...
My Bobamaker Jango is the perfect size but it is hard to find just the right combo of padding to keep it both comfortable and bobble head free.
Go and buy a cheap t-ball helmet at Wal-Mart (<$10) and take the padding out of that. It will be more than enough padding and is extremely comfortable. The helmet I bought had two layers in all spots -- really dense white foam and then squishier comfy grey foam on the outside where you make contact. As a bonus, you can use the elastic chin strap with your FPH chin cup!!
I trimmed the dense foam in about half to make all the padding slimmer and glued some parts, velcroed others depending on where I was putting it (e.g. velcro where I needed access to the RF bolt or fan battery boxes).
I wore mine for about 4 hours last weekend and never felt the need to take it off except to down a Diet Coke. :D
Oh, and no bobblehead at all....
Great advice. I have a hard hat liner in it at the moment, which gives me full movement, but I have only had it on for a limited time, I know doubt will change it out at some time.

Ok, I am working on a liner like the one posted in the link, will see how it pans out. The hard hat liner is hurting my head when worn for an hour or so! Probably the method I used.
Was the liner to tight on your head Rob?
What about the padding from a hockey goalie mask? It's foam and can probably be fit with little effort and can be purchased over the internet.
Use the foam padding and then get a strap from a bycicle helmet or something just to keep it on incase you look down. (wouldn't strap it on too tight) Then all you need is a nice computer fan installed on the back of the helm and you will be smooth sailing, ridin' in style.
I just went a got a little league batting helmet from wallyworld yesterday for 10 bucks and going to use a heat gun on low to pull all the padding out w/o ripping it and all that and then re-glue it into my MR bucket. I'll post pics soon. Hopefully it will work since after checking all the bicycle/skateboard helmet inserts and not finding a good match at all...
I'm sure a hockey helmet liner would work too...I wouldn't spend the money on anything new, maybe go to a Play it again sports shop or something.

I could get an abundance of padding from those seeing as how my cousins are all-star hockey players! So, is a chin strap absolutely necessary to reduce bobble head?
Id say use one of my foam padding kits.:) but of course id say that.
If you pad the rear with a thin pad. and then pad the forehead with the appropriate thick foam padding you can get the fit just right. And it will force the visor off your nose.
Thats how I have always done my padding. With my foam kits the brown works in the back, and the third brown that comes with it gets used in the front. A foam piece in the top center adjusts the height.
You can do this though with ANY foam. Theres no need to order a foam kit unless you want it to look like electronics and padding from a real starwars helmet.
