Helmet padding suggestions?

What do you recommend for padding/stabilizing my helmet? I am presently using pieces of 'egg crate' foam padding duct-taped inside mine. I didn't want to glue them in because this is only a temporary solution. What works/doesn't work?

The guy I got my helmet from padded it with foam pipe insulation split in half. It seems to work well and holds my helmet very securely to my head.

Well, many options. Hard hat liner, foam padding velcro'd in, whatever works best for the individual.

Use airconditioner sealer foam, get it from any major hardware store... its cheap and works great! 8)

Is that like a spray in product, or what??? By the way, I thought you only recommended crushed velvet lining.

I used a hardhat liner and egg-crate type foam on the back of the helmet. It keeps it nice and snug on my head and there isn't any moving around at all.

I do not only suggest velvet liner FYI, I sometimes pad and then line with crushed velvet.... that airconditioner foam I was talking about is an actual foam rubber, its solid,,, NO spray in.
BTW people I'm offering a full helmet paint job conversion on ebay, search under user ID: chimp37 .
In this offer you will get an ESB paint job with decals applied, velvet liner and padding, electric LEDs in the rangefinder and full sturdy t-visor installed.... I'm starting the auction at only 9.00 so bid early and get your helmet converted for cheap! 8) You can see examples of fully converted Fett helmets on my site at:

I was wondering how everyone has the inside of their helmet padded. I haven't done mine yet and was wondering what the concensious is on comfortable and conforming. By the way i have the Don Post 96 version.

I have a DP '95, and what I have is pieces of foam covered in that cloth tape. A large piece on each side of the head, and a small one across the forehead and down the back, where the 2 side pieces meet. It works fine for me, and never wobbles.

*edit* Oh yeah, and it's all held in there with black duct tape.

I have one of those big sponges shaped like eight, and I cut in half and and glued it on the sides. It works quite well for me.

i put 2 1" cellulose sponges on each side of the helmet...its quite snug, and i have to wet the sponges down a little if im wearing for a longer period of time...

I used some pads from a football helmet liner. It's pretty expensive, though, about $30. It's more comfortable if you have longer hair than a hardhat liner, IMO.

Lisa Fett - Thatta way ! Was it a Ridell ?

I used an old Ridell. I've found those work REALLY well, individual cells for padding. And the added perk of looking JUST LIKE the Ridell MINI Boba Helmet on the inside :) I dont' know if the newwer one's have the same padding or not?

No, padding from a real football helmet. It's brown, though, like the Riddel. You can buy a replacement liner. I thought the Riddel helmets were really small...I've never seen one in person, but it looks like it would be too small to put inside a regular sized Fett helmet.

I think that Riddel also makes the larger football helmet.

I'm just using a hard hat liner. My hair is a constant costuming annoyance. I generally wear a balaclava that's tucked into the neck seal.

I'm going to put padding into my fg helmet when it arrives,
Phil

The football helmet liner sounds pretty good those guys have to wear them for a long time and get pretty sweaty in them. I have seen some pretty wild hair styles in the NFL and it never seems to be a problem. Plus the added bonus of being able to tackle jedi without getting a concussion!
Can't beat that.

Riddel makes football helmets? *L* I don't know anything about football. Don't tell Azeem I said that. Oh wait, he already knows...

I added the hardhat suspension this weekend.

Very happy with it!! Much better fit!!

I can move rapidly around with it, and it stays put. No more bobblehead!!

:)
