Helmet Interior?

Helmet Interior: UPDATE: PICS of V1

I know marrowsun has a sweet interior kit for helmets. Im wondering if its acurate? Is there a schematic or some photos of what its theoretically supposed to look like? Or is it just a creative license sort of thing?

See last post for details:)

Its based on the Riddell mini helmets. The "real" helmets had nothing inside except for some minor padding and a chin strap.

Well, after looking around at the source, and seeing whats available, and the source material, i cant find any cannon info for the helmet. It appears that riddell made up the interior based on a couple of different old tech drawings. Vader helmet, trooper helmet, etc.

That being said, i decided to scratch build my own using the same information, which made them end up quite a bit more detailed, but not what everyones used to:)

Thanks for the help

Heres the plugs, earcaps and a test pull of my 'bad' mold. The mold didnt cure because one of the gap filling primers inhibited it. Made for a 'grimy' pour in the corners.

Provides a nice weathered effect, wont look good if you go for the white, clean look.

The new plugs (models) are on the last page, I finished the new center rear last night, working on the blocks now.

Images from that thread to show some details:
Original plug while working. prototype.

My rubber/foam combo used to make a custom earpiece.

Actual pulls of the pieces, from the old, bad molds. New molds will be a 2 piece squish.

wow stormie, nice work...wish i couldve helped more with the mini...really anxious about this thread...definantly keep us posted brother...(y)

BFett25 has offered to let me BORROW his mini to use as source material for another version of these. Hes going to mail me one, and Im going to return it with the full size foam/rubber interior with it:)

Im going to finish these in the mean time, as these are a little more 'functional' than the riddell from what I have seen.

I have placed pressure blocks, and pieces in all the places a normal head hits the helmet.

Once I get the new helmet, or get a pull or two of this one done, ill post more:)

Thanks again BFett25. It is much appreciated.

Very cool work (y) !!
I like the greater details of the parts.
It just looks more realistic than the Ridell interior.
What's the name of the foam/density that you're using?
I'm having a problem with a totally different project that
needs a thin skin on soft floppy foam.
Thanks

Well, I am using the polytek f5. I think its a 5 density. I dont know if theres a shore hardness for the foams. The softest rubber ive found is 30.

This foams skinning properly in the mold but i have a theory why. Im working with alumilite locally to get a better foam working. They have a 3 thats nice. its like nerf but smaller, more uniform cell density. Its not ready yet.

Send me a pm about what your making and ill see if i can help you get what you want out of it.

The helmet arrived today! It looks totally different in person that int does in these pics. Amazingly enough.

Im workin on the model as other things dry/heat up.

Thanks again for the helmet loan BFett25. Ill send you progress pics as I go:)
