Helmet Display Mount

So I was really inspired by Jayvee use of a clock to make his display stand that I saw on this post:

I was going to give it a crack, but then I realized that I really did not any desk room in my office or mancave to display on a stand. So I was left with the only option of mounting my helmets on the wall.
I really did not like the generic options you find online or in the store. But on a recent trip to Home Depot and walking down the plumbing isle, it hit me. Black steel piping, it looks industrial, dirty and perfect for Boba Fett.

I bought all the piping pieces I needed for $12 from Home Depot

In order to make the helmet sit steady, I took a visit to Hobby lobby to pick up some foam, .5 inch round wooden rod and wood circle board for the bargin price of $8.

I simply used gorilla glue to add the foam and a screw to connect the rod and the circle board. I also used a bracket with duck tape. A bit of overkill, but I don't want this piece wobbling loose and hearing my helmet
come crashing down in the middle of the night.

When mounting the metal floor mount to the wall, remember to use a stud finder to hit the stud or use some quality self drilling dry wall anchors to make this mount solid.

Boom! Easy Peasy and for about $20.
I love the industrial look for this bad boy. I will add a second wall mount for my Stormtrooper Helmet.

What is your Lego Slave I propped up with?

Super3, it is a 2 inch metal L bracket that I had painted for another project and was an extra piece. You can find the bracket at Home Depot or Lowes for $3. I put a small piece of duck tape under Slave1 and near the bottom corner of the bracket to keep it from accidentally sliding. It has held up so far. I guess our next SoCal earthquake will put it to the test.

This is a great idea!

I did the same thing but for the "vertical" piece of pipe I used an 8" section instead of 12". I just wanted to hide the pipe as much as possible.

For the top of the mount (where the helmet rests) I just bought a pack of 2.5" felt pads with sticky backs. (Like you'd use under a table, chair or sofa if you have a wood floor and don't want to scratch it.)

Now, because of this wall mount, I'm in the market for a new Fett helmet to put above the Stormy!

thanks!!

Also used them for my LOTR helmets!

Thanks TA...!!

The great thing about this mount is that it can be fully adjustable to fit your size helmet. If you want (or need) the helmet to sit out further from the wall just buy a longer section of 1/2" pipe. If you want/need the helmet to stand up taller on the mount (with some exposed pipe like TAguirre did) just buy a longer vertical pipe.

This pipe is really cheap and can be found everywhere. Remember that there are really two styes, the typical "galvanized" (silver color) pipe and the "black" pipe that is darker and works better (I think) for stuff like this. It comes in many widths, but the 1/2" size is more than enough to support any helmet and look great. For a thicker look, go with the 1" pipe...or bigger.

I used this same pipe to make a eFX Captain America shield stand!

Great work! I know this is an older thread, just wanted to add my 2¢...and my helmet mount. Same concept, just used PVC.

Rock76 that works as well and definately a more cost effective way. You get the same results, looks good.

I still use the metal piping and dreading if I move and have to carry all these heavy pipes.

On another note, I was pretty excited to see Disneylands Galaxy's Edge using the same concept for their display of helmets. Alot of galvanized
piping is used in the land as props to give the new Star Wars feel.
