Helmet and Armor tips.

Hi everyone! I'm John and as you can see by my post count I'm brand new to the forums. I'm not new to Star Wars costuming, however. My girlfriend and I both have made Jedi costumes and I've built several light saber hilts and am working on a "working" Imperial Knight silver saber.

What I REALLY want is Boba Fett armor. I don't have a ton to spend on it but I'm willing to make a reasonable investment. I just want your expert advice on where to find a reasonably priced helmet and armor.

I was looking at some painted and unpainted armor sets on eBay and they seem really affordable. I'm not sure what all of them are made out of but they look like 1/4 inch pvc maybe.

Helmets have me the most puzzled. It seems you can either spend $50 or $500 I have not found much middle ground which is more my price range.

I don't need it painted but honestly I feel more comfortable sculpting sentra than actually painting it well. So if I could get one painted that would be great.

So what do you guys suggest? I want a decent suit but nothing crazy expensive. Also I really want it done by May 3rd so I can wear it to my friends comic shop for Free Comic Book Day.

Oh and lastly I'm going to the Star Wars, Science Meets Imagination exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia tomorrow. I'll let you know how it is.

Hey welcome to TDH. Glad to see your interested in making a fett costume. I myself have a jedi costume, a darth maul costume , and a boba fett in the works. But to answer some of your questions.....their are some very good boba fett craftsman on this website.

I myself am not finished with my Boba Fett Suit but so far I bought ALL my pieces to my suit from members of this site and couldn't be more satisfied.:)

Also about ebay....I would suggest you go to ebay as a very VERY VERY last resort, if Ever, to finding pieces to your costume. Ebay hasn't gotten too many good reviews here. The reason is simple. Recasters and not good quality Pieces. But sometimes members here offer stuff on ebay and those Items are Legit.;)(just check the cargo hold) But as an alternative route to ebay.....buy here first. You can also make friends with the sellers. Also again, Constantly check the Cargo Hold for great deals. Hope this helps

Hi John,

And welcome aboard! Always nice to meet another up and coming Mandalorian. :) You've come home bro. ;)

This is the right place to address all your Boba Fett costuming needs and to shoot the breeze with the most knowledgeable Fettheads in the hobby.

In a nutshell, you can find EVERYTHING you need Fettwise here, no need to look elsewhere. :cheers All you have to remember is that, with any quality built item, it takes time and will sometimes cost just a tad more that what you can find outside. However, you can be assured of the best product and service around.

And to start off, lemme ask you this...which version are you going for? Decide then and you'll be good to go!

Good luck and stay safe!

Tim.

Welcome to the board! :cheers New people and ideas are what keep any board dynamic and interesting. I'm a relative newbie here, just over a year now, and I definitely understand the confusion about armor and especially helmets! :D

I agree with Halo, choose a version of Fett and build it. Alternatively, you could go for a "generic" Fett costume that captures the "essence" of Boba Fett. It depends on your goals. If you want to be 501st eligible and as accurate as possible, pick your version (Pre-Production 1,2, or 3, Empire Strikes Back, or Return of the Jedi). I also agree with staying far, far away from Fleabay.

Given your time constraints, you may need to go for a more general looking and easily recognizable Boba Fett costume. As far as the armor, I can get you started. Check your PMs. :cheers
