Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
There was a thread once I think that
explained all the current helmets that
are in circulation and their names &
abbreviations. Does someone know what
thread that was?
If there isn't any...
can someone list them and line up some
pics? I am curious to see them side by
side. Also...I'm getting very confused
with all the abbreviations (ex. MSH, MLC,
MH, etc.). :wacko
thanks!

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Isn't the "original ROTJ from the Lucas Archives" pictured there actually the damaged ESB stunt helmet that I know is in one of my books...Best Of The Lucas Film Archives I think it is?
It is a great idea -- I know I could have used a site like that when I first joined.
Cheers!

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Thanks Micke.
We should do that for the ones seen
on this forum most often (MSH, MLC,etc.).
-
Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Yeah jeezy, i think you're right...it is an ESB! :p

Yeah...perfect! Exactly what I was
asking for.
Thanks! :)

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Cool thread, now all we need is a comparison picture of all the helmets side by side. :)
-
Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Ask Seeker for a side by side comparison of them all,
he should have them all by now. :lol jk, Seek!
Thanks for compiling the list and the photos, BobaFettish!:thumbsup

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Thanks guys. You know, HS, I almost added yours to the list, but yours wasn't abbreviated. ;)
With so many quality choices, it's no wonder why the demand for DP's has slowed down.

Acutally, Juan, I'm hoping that this could probably be accomplished at one of the upcoming conventions. We just get all of the Fetts together, line up our helmets at varying angles, and start snapping pictures. There are several people here who have one or two, but I don't know of anyone who has them all. I'd also like to see a DP Deluxe and standard added to the mix.

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
I too am glad to see FP is back I have tried to stay in contact with him but understand that he is very busy. Much like the rest of you cant wait to get my bucket.

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
I was told this was a fg recast of a DP Deluxe on the stand, by a very reliable source. The one on the right is my scratchbuilt metal jobby. The recast was the first ever in-person Fett helmet I ever saw. I made mine from the ref cd pics and a bit of guesstimating.

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
MMM, by making your helmet just using Ref pictures it turned out really accurate when compzred to the that Delux.
BF, that is a great idea. :)
-
Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Thanks, Defiler. Witnesses can attest that as cool and calm as I look in the pic, I was actually shaking like a leaf. Only two minutes before had I seen the DP Deluxe and compared the two.
After thinking about all the time in it, and the even longer set-up and planning, and always wondering in my mind if my efforts would be laughable or a waste of time, the only emotion besides WooHoo! I could muster was shock and shaking. Notice the thousand-yard-stare.
The only thing I can say is that I built this all scaled to the GI helmet I used as the crown. This supports my theory that the original possibly used a pull of the same. Had I used a crown of my own making, no doubt the helmet would have turned out radically different and laughable.

BobaFettish seemed to sum it up, I learned a few new things now :p

Thanks for the kind comments! The site now has a nice and friendly URL www.StarWarsHelmets.com, and I've updated the info under "real props" following your comments.
Any more info or photos then please lmk, I want to expand my sections on the Fetts (as per my new post)
Cheers

Isn't there also an Aurora helmet? or is that the Movie Sized helmet?
::edit- names removed to protect the innocent::
-
Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
The Aurora helmet was a Movie Sized helmet painted by Rogue Studios.
-
Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
I thought the Aurora was Cking's N15D helmet (very good, very rare), not MSH.
I stand to be corrected if wrong, but I'm pretty sure RS waxed lyrical about the quality and praised N15D's work.
:lol there's another bucket to add to the mix. Bit of an urban myth, but they are out there, quietly being brilliant.

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Natty's (N15D) helmet is the MSH.
-
Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Wow! Han Hunter you really know how to flatter someone. Thank you for the compliment. But alas all I did was throw some paint in the right order onto an MSH. I hope to do more soon. At least until after a little self imposed break (Dragon con).

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
I be knowing my helmets, HH! ;)
-
Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
Yeah, sorry man! :)
Daft of me to have ever thought you of all people would have made such a mistake, it's just that I've heard one or two people say they had "one of Natty's buckets", without mentioning that they were the MSH, so I thought they were seperate items.
And as I had only heard a couple of people mention it, I thought Natty had perhaps done a tiny run for a few mates and they were hugely rare.
Right then, were's that dunce's cap?
Si

Re: Helmet abbreviations & comparisons???
:lol
No prob at all, mate. The confusion is easily understandable. No dunce cap needed.... yet! ;)
