Hello all, I ran across a Don Post 1996 Helmet. Looks pretty nice. Says its mint condition and never been worn. #134 is its number. Someone please tell me, What do these normally run? I was told by the seller that they start at 800 bucks. Is there any truth to this? Its list on ebay, Its a Deluxe helmet too I need to add. Please let me know. I have never seen a helmet go for that much. (I may be a noob) but just let me hear your thoughts on it.

Thanks

Long Live The Fett!

Don Post Deluxe helmets go for quite a bit. I don't know about $800, but they go for much more than the standard Don Post or rubies.

You can get a much nicer helmet from some of the members here.

...and you'll get change back from that $800

 $800? You can get a new and improved Sgt. Fang bucket (Mystery Helmet) for around $120, which was cast from the "Lava" helmet, a damaged and repaired cast of the 2nd Pre-production helmet. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the Don Post Deluxe was another reworking of the Lava helmet.

Frankly, its definitely not worth $800. No way, no how.:p

I'd say it depends on whether you're into the "collectibility" aspect of it. It's getting pretty rare to see a Deluxe for sale, and even though they're not the most uber-accurate buckets to be found, some people will pay a premium for one in great condition.
Just depends what you like I guess. :)

Well, in my time in this SW community, which is under 2 years, I've come across nearly twelve Darth Vader Deluxes. By comparison, I've only come across two Fett Deluxes.

It's a tradeoff between accuracy and rarety. Under normal circumstances, I would agree with the seller.

There are many who have modified the Darth Vader DLX. Likewise with the Classic Action Vaders. Original state Deluxes are getting rarer, but the variety of helmets out there haven't necessarily driven the price up either.

A Don Post Deluxe Vader I have is in its original and unmodified state. It's one of my prized collections. It's not as accurate as some of the helmets that are out there -- heck, the paint scheme is mirrored. But it looks freakin' amazing to me, and I love it half to death. Do I feel it was a good investment? Absolutely.

Not sure about the Fett DLX, but I've seen the Vader DLX go for over $1000. As CSMacLaren has already mentioned, they are getting rarer, and unmodded ones are especially rare. It's been ages since I've seen an unmodded Vader.
