ARGHH!! Not the dread "Paint crackle reaction"?!?!!?? Sorry to hear of the turn in events.......I've had it happen too many times to count.Sticking with all acrylics on my Fett paintjob project has me in smooth waters.
If only I could take a leave of absence from my job to keep at it I think I'd be done by now.I might have all armor and gauntlets done by the end of the Holiday weekend (fingers crossed).

The cracking can be averted by letting that joker dry for days before applying any paint to it especially if you are in a humid climate. Enamels apply to ok if it's dry and you also have to let the enamel sit on it for awhile and apply it in thin coats (less is more). Acrylics tend to give better results but from what I have been told enamels were mostly used on the original but since we are trying to copy their random scratches used on the orig. Acrylics are a better alternative for our purpose since we have to copy what someone else randomly applied.
I think(keyword) Floquil "bright silver" (can be bought at micromark.com) was used as a the base silver then they applied latex to remove the scratches. But since we have to recreate what they did we have to alter our methods slightly for desired results. I don't know why I went on this rant sorry

Oh MAN, that would be a cool frickin custom!
Especially with red or blue over silver. They sell two-part paints at craft stores that will do that- stone or marble finishes.

Looking wicken buddy, did you use Boxcar Red on the mandibles? It looks a little redder than mine, and I have heard from others that red needs to be added to it.
