curious...what kind of paint do you use?

The painted pieces in the photos above were brushed with regular acrylic paints. If other people have had good experiences with other sorts of paint on these foam pieces, I'd love to hear about it.

Well I really don't know about shipping just yet, so all quotes on that will have to wait until I have a set cast up and I can figure it all out. As for start-up and delivery time, I hope that once the molds arrive, it should take me a week or two to get all necessary supplies and get started casting. I am pretty busy these days, so I'll have to just cast up a set whenever I can, which unfortunately doesn't allow me to set a definitive turn around time at this point. While I may ask for a small deposit to confirm peoples interest (at the appropriate time, we'll see), I won't be asking for the bulk of the payment until a particular order is ready to ship, as I don't want people to be out any money for extended periods of time.

I just got my helmet back and I can just about get my head in because the indentation of the cheeks makes it difficult to get them past the bone of my eyebrows. I got a big head!!!

Is there a way I can test to see if I can fit these in with my large melon???

Alcfalath, I'm hoping that I can do this as one big run over the course of several weeks (as I find time) and then wrap it up. Something I will have to consider is the quantities of the materials required, so if I finish up a batch of the foam stuff, and there isn't enough interest to use up another batch, I think we'll call it quits. So my advice would be to speak up now and put your name down for as many sets as you think you'll ever want so I can factor that into everything and you won't be out of luck later on down the line.

Pauly, regarding testing the fit of these (plus your head) in your helmet, I don't really know what to suggest. I'm not keen on casting up a set for you, sending them half way around the world, having you try them out and finding you can't fit, then sending them back. My guess would be that if you can only barely fit in your helmet without anything else in there, that installing these pieces is going to make it even harder for you. I mean, these are composed of matter, which takes up space (or so my physics teachers would have me believe) so that will limit the available space in your helmet. They are fairly soft foam, which will be forgiving and cushion around your head, and they are only an inch or so thick on their own, so it's not impossible to fit a bigger head in there. If you would like to try a set, I can put you down for one, and if it doesn't work out for you, I'm sure somebody else around here would be able to find some use for them. Let me know!

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that these will fit just fine in the new MS Custom?
Put me down for a set, though you may have to wait a bit on the payment, gotta get the money to MS first.

I would have thought that they would fit the MS custom altho doesn't it have the odd shapped cut-outs in the rear quarters?
As for payment... I think your safe there as no mention of production has been announced yet? I think CD is gathering numbers at present... see CD's last post.

Any idea if they'll fit in BF's Vac-formed helmet? I think I'll use them for my Vau helmet instead of my MS custom, since the MS has all the stuff on the back. Either way, I'm still down for a set, they'll get used eventually for sure.

OK gang, the molds are in hand now. The next step will be to get everything else in order. I'll need a week or two to get all the necessary supplies together and then, all going well, we should be able to get into production of these things. I'd be interested in a set too . . . can they come painted? Also, sorry if I missed it, but how did you attach them?

I don't think I'll be offering them painted, as it will be just too much work for me and I don't think I'll be able to find the time. As far as affixing them to the inside of your helmet, really any adhesive will do the trick. I'm sure those who have installed these things from the previous runs by MS can offer some suggestions.

I have one of Ms's original run, and now with my FP helmet will need a new set. Please put me down for one also

once i get my new helmet and get a sense for the space inside, i may want in on that. i got an interior from the old run, but my head + the kit was bigger than the inside of my helmet.

I'd imagine they will fit, as I've heard that the WOF plans are sized comparable to the screen used helmets. If that's true, they should fit nicely.

I was able to do a test casting of one of the pieces over the weekend and I think I've got most of this figured out. I'll need to head to the hardware store and stock up on a couple things to get all set. We're almost there!
