    Nice paint job!

    Hey everybody!

Well this is my first post, as it has been pointed out by my friend there, and I wanted to say, "Glad to be here!" It was a fun little trip I took over to see MS and BKBT and have a bit of fun in the shop, and I hope I can make it over there again in the near future. The interior helmet pieces do look really slick and seem to be quite functional as padding too. Painting was fun and installation not too hard, so I think all you people will love 'em!

    Good night all!

    MJC.

all this craziness on these interior pieces

I don't think MS has started a run list yet.
However I think he could be getting one going soon.

wow was not here for a long time but I only could say I come back and directly saw this wonderfull work you did Marrow Sun.
Big compliments for that work and if it would be fine I also would like to be on the list for one complete set. Oh BTW would they come complete painted for these people who would pay for the paintjob?

did these pieces actually make the helmet snug on you? or would I still have to have something to hold it snug on my head?

I think you would have to trim a bit of the sides off to make up a bit of space.

The helmet pieces don't hardly touch my head, but I don't have a large melon. The idea was to still leave room for a hardhat liner, but all you really would need is some foam on the forehead area to fit and hold the helmet in place.

Hm... Between these and the screens I'm planning on putting into my helmet, I think the inside will end up cooler than the outside. Put me on the list, but first I've gotta buy myself a bucket and earn the money for this! lol

Of course, considering how far down I am on the list, I might be ready for 501st approval by the time I get one, and that's still another year and a half away.

Thanks bro!! It's been a long road, but it's finally getting waaay better!

Moved into a house that I'll be buying, 2000+ sq ft, wood and tile floors throughout, some custom features, outdoor tile in the backyard, low maintaince yard, built in gas bbq w/ two sets of two burners as well, it's really nice! 3 car garage, w/ the 3rd spot built into a room. Yes, that's where my 1/6th collection and props hang out! (or will, once I get it set up)

It took me awhile to get 22 years worth of "stuff" out of my old place, (to say the least) but it's just a good feeling now.

Got internet back up, got a really, really good job, kids are doing well, got a fantastic girlfriend still, loving life!

Looking forward to seeing you at DCon!

Just curious as to why you would never do them again... was it a bad experience?

Is there anyone else who makes an interior kit?

It wasn't a bad experience but I don't have the time or room anymore for making them up. I had to do them inside because you need a consistant temperature. That isn't an option anymore since my "play room" is the kids bedroom now.

No one else makes them as far as I know. I may go the route of lending or selling off the molds.

LOL, yeah I know the feeling, kids and Star Wars projects can be a volatile combination. There should be a temporary adoption agency for those "important" SW projects that come up from time to time

I've looked at those Riddell helmets so many times and wished someone would produce a mould of the interior for full size buckets. Then I saw this thread, my heart skipped a beat with excitement and then I realised how old this thread was

If you feel generous enough to lend the moulds or decide to sell them then I can guarantee the lender/new owner of the moulds that there would be some very interested Mandalorians around here.

do you guys think this would all fit in, slightly modified so a servo unit for the RF will fit behind.. would be a good way to hide the circuit boards

thats assuming i manage to actually get my armour... due for delivery early this week and no arrival nor correspondence with seller. :-S

Well if you take a look at this photo:

... I bet you probably could modify it a little to make room for a servo. It would probably mean cutting off the top portion of the right hand side piece and maybe carving out the back sides of some of the other pieces to allow room for the circuit boards etc. you mentioned. Probably not too hard.

    Bye for now!

Has anyone had any troubles fitting the kit in a BobaMaker helmet?

I've got a BM and I'm a little concerned about squeezing my big noggin in there after installing the kit.

Anyone think the size of the BM helmet could be a problem?

That is due to the squished back... not the over all size.. it is deep vertically but when it comes to room from the back of your head to the front visor there is not as much room as you might think from looking at it. Big is a relative term when it comes to some of the helmets...

    MarrowSun,

I know this thread has not been active for a while, but I have a few questions about how you shaped/sclupted the pieces

    1. did you carve them out of foam rubber from the start, or use something else to get the detail.

    2. what tools did you use to sculpt with kinfes, dremel bits?

    any help would be appreciated.

SR has a post for interiors in the cargo hold but he hasn't posted an update in over a month so who knows if he is still going to do them.

That's what I thought, but I didn't want to bug him with everything he has going on.

That's good news. Hopefully everything is going well, I know he has been preoccupied. I need one of his sidearms to go with my soon to be arriving FP nemrod holster.

    Re: Full Size Helmet Interior

That's an excellent idea! Obviously there are all sorts of poly foams, some self skinning, some not. Did you say it was made of foam latex? Prosthetic grade that you bake or do you mean a two part prop foam like the polyurethane foams I mentioned? Smooth-on sells all sorts of neat foams. I live near a retail store so get to pick their brains and touch all sorts of different grades and types. Forgive me if you're using something different but the reason I dislike foam latex is that it rots and breaks down so fast. I believe it just keeps curing. I have owned props only a few years old already cracking. I'll go through thread again to see if I missed something.
