Good Idea Spidey

oooooooh been waiting for this one, thanks Alex!!![]()
I dont care how well mr does......I always feel that helmets made by the true fans are way better. we have so much talent here on the forums and i am proud to be on the dented helmet.
I think MR did a fantastic job on their helmet. I would be proud to wear one if someone were to cast it.
Really, the only thing I didn't like about the few pics I've seen of the MR is the uneven mandible width. I would guess, however, that this could be corrected with a brace and replacement visor.
Will post pictures tonight.![]()
Cool...looking forward to this...![]()
As promised...
As you can see below, FP is the man, and his new FPH is truely amazing!!:thumbup...
Please keep in mind that the FPH shown is not finished, does not have any weathering, and is used only for the over all comparison...so the colors will look a tad different...plus I've made some changes to the "recommended" colors, based on viewing the real hero helmet in person.
**And also keep in mind that the FPH was modeled after the HERO ESB helmet...not the one MR used (PP3)....so there are some noticeable differences in shape.
I think for a "fanmade" helmet, this is as good as it will ever get.
AGAIN GREAT WORK FETTPRIDE!

nice pics!!
throw up the MSH2 comparison!!!
I must say that our man FETTPRIDE makes one INCREDIBLE bucket!!!
and I must say that MR did a AWESOME job also.
As Spidey said the MR is a PP3 and the FPH is more in line with the HERO. For those of you that saw the HERO helmet at C4 you know that that helmet is very different that the PP3!!
these are great pics and I cant wait to display my finished FPH and the MR helmet at my crib very soon!!

those are some great 'compare' shots. Thanks Spidey. Thanks for the inside shot as well. Looking good on that FPH paint job for JB btw![]()
I want both. I have the MR on the way (supposedly). I need a ROTJ to troop in. I need to contact FP eventually. Thanks for the pics.
Its the PP3 MR scanned fellas.8)
I am very impressed with the paint work on the MR! The colors look spot on next to the real colors from Lee on the FPH. After all MR and Lee worked together on this helmet from MR so they better have gotten it right!
FP you make an awesome bucket. Its amazing how good it looks when its a scratch made helmet next to a scan. And as others have pointed out, it has all the little warps and things that make it look truly an ESB helmet.![]()
Master Replicas did a fantastic job on that helmet!! I love the comparison pics, it really shows how accurate the helmets are. The MR rangefinder seems to have a little too much weathering on it though.
Those are AMAZING pictures guys ! Thank you for being so kind tooI'm honored to be the first to be compared to the closest to the real helmet as anyone will ever get !!
There are definitely some very obvious differences. Size specifically. I think the pics really excentuate that. I've been told that it isn't that obvious in person between the two. I can't say for sure, as I've never even held an MR. Yet
And yes, the FPH was designed more with the ESB "Hero" in mind. But no matter what helmet your going for, the domes are always the same. I remember that was the hardest aspect that I grappled with. I'm glad to see that I was at least in the ball park
Again, thanks guys for taking the time to do this. Great pics ! I think they're the best you've ever taken ! I know it's a pain in the but to do too ! These pics would be a great "add" to the next official ref cd ! Especially the "stand alone" pics of the MR on your other thread !
I'm extremely impressed with the MR paintjob !!!! It has to be the best mass produced painjob for something this complex that I've ever seen. I'm not so sure that anyone else but MR could have pulled this off ! I mean, look at the old DP DLX !!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!
In all seriousness, a sincere thank you for all of the great comments on the FPH !

Wow great pics Alex, thanks for getting them up so fast!!! What an amazing likeness, FP you did a great job man, seriously I take my FPH off to youThanks again Spidey
![]()
oh and keep in mind...that the FPH AND the MR have no real weathering or misting on them, (other than the random rust Splatter on the MR).. so that will also change the FPH color a tad, once I get there of coarse.![]()
Thanks for throwing this up here Alex. It only proves FPs dedication on his newest Sculpt. Props guys!
jon
Great comparison. Both are beautiful helmets.
For a fanmade, FP did an amazing job.
Thanks for the side by sides.

Great photos guys! Always nice to be able to give people the ability to see the likenesses and differences between helmets for themselves!
WOW!!!!Awesome pics!!! The FPH virtually looks like the same helmet and the metal ears, well....just doesn't get any better:thumbup.
Now I'm waiting for the first re-paint/touch-up paintjob of an MR....If it happened with the MR Falcon which costs a bunch more, I forsee it in the Fett future8).
Steve![]()
Very nice pics! That MR mandible warp really bugs me. And do my eyes deceive me, or does the MR have an extra kill stripe? I count 15.
Holy ****. I've been looking at the swhelmets pics forever and never noticed... lol... One extra kill for us, I guess.![]()
I gotta agree with that !
And conversation just brought this up ....
Below are a few of the "perceived" differences between the "MR" and the "FPH" that you might be noticing, at one particular angle of course. The "red" markup denotes the perceived difference between the "MR" and the "FPH", and the "yellow" markup denotes that where they may be different between the "MR" and the "FPH", they're actually in common between the "FPH" and the ESB "Hero". It at least illustrates the method behind my madness when I made the FPH (what I was shooting for at the time), and shows the differences that DM and Spidey were talking about when they said that the "FPH" was modeled after the ESB "Hero" likeness. The same could be illustrated for perceived differences from other angles as well.

Sweet...I love this kinda stuff.....good post Chris.

That's an awesome pic Dan !
That pic really illustrates that MR over exaggerated the mandible warp. But they NAILED the PP3 paint job !!!! WOW ! I'm sure that we have Lee (RS) to thank for that ... otherwise, MR most certainly would not have done as good of a job without him
It just goes to show, that if they actually used the "Hero" like they were supposed to ... the never ending search for the perfect "Hero" helmet would now be over

I think everyone already said what I had to say..hehe!
Thanks for posting guys!![]()

Unless the the MR helmet was actually molded from the real deal, it will NEVER be the true scale. MR has to skew a bunch of things in order for people to wear them.
Scan is not a perfect copy. They have to go in there and fix things here and there. And the MR guys dont have the eye like we purest have.
But the MR helmet is a sweet bucket.
I have studied the Digital clone helmet for hours and hours. The MR clone helmet doesnt even come close to the digital version.
So that said. My books is the Fettpride is the winner.
Awesome comparison Spidey
And a big WOW! to FPH helmet.
Arturo
Chris you helmet looks FREAKIN SICK!
I cant believe how close they are too each other.
Way to go man!
Turo, with all due respect, I have to disagree with you. Comparing MR's Clone Replica to the Boba replica is apples and oranges. I won't declare a "winner" between the MR and FPH because different people want and appreciate different things. Both helmets are very nice but both have shortcomings.
I disagree that the MR isn't "true scale." From what I have seen, MR has "skewed" nothing on the MR, especially so people can wear them. Granted, this was necessary for the clone helmet but again trying to apply the things done to the clone helmet to fett is comparing apples and oranges.
I totally agree that the scan isn't perfect. That is easily seen when comparing the MR to the MF. I also agree that the MR people don't have the eyes of a purest. However, I think the MR stands on its own and taking away from it due to the shortcomings of other MR offerings isn't a fair assessment as the clone CGI helmet was never intended for a human head.
just my thoughts.

Very true.
Well atleast for now, we have the best that a retailer and fan can offer to the masses.
Hopefully one day we'll hit the archives and mold THE real deal.
All respect taken.

new fph i want oneas soon as you offer them , i didn't order the master r because i was happy with my ms3 until now (thanks spidey)
but in all seriousness as soon as you offer these new fph's put me on the list
I do agree that as accurate as a scan may be or perceived to be it will (IMO) never be spot on to the original...as is evident here with the mandible being off. And now looking at the comparison of the PP3 and MR...it looks to me that the dome is off as well. All considered, it just doesn't get any better than the MR for a commercially released helmet but that said my money is on the FPH. Just to add...as a collector I do own both helmets![]()
Thank you for the great comparison pics, some time and effort there.
I still prefer the FP lid I gotten from slavefive. The FP lid looks better.![]()
As much as I dislike MR for all their screw ups with the colne and vader buckets it looks to me that the fett bucket looks good. Ill even go as far to say I cant wait to get mine in the mail here soon.
Very nice pics, Spidey! Superjedi brought his FPH to Comic Con yesterday, and I think he also got a few shots next to an MR helmet for comparison.
Great comparison shots!! Wow, those are beautiful pictures.
I never picked up on the fact that the MR had 15 kill stripes!! Man, that's bizarre.
Like Scott just mentioned, I did bring my FPH up to Phoenix, but didn't take any pics of it with the MR helmet. There's no way any pics I could have taken would have been as nice as the shots that have already been posted.
I did get a chance to get my eyeballs an inch away from the MR helmet though, and after poring over every bit I could see (couldn't touch it, so didn't get to see the back) it looked like the factoy paint job was nicely done! It was carefully applied, and it looked just like the pics that Spidey posted above.
However. . . the "pinched" left mandible just killed it for me.Yes, it's present on the PP3, but it's just somehow emphasized more on the MR helmet. . . hard to explain. It kind of threw off the way the helmet looked from the front.
So, purely in my opinion, I'm glad I bought my FPH!![]()
Great comparison pics Spidey! Thanks for posting!
the FPH looks great even with the most modest weathering.
i always prefered fan made props to mass produced, but the MR is pretty good considering.
Agreed, what this place is all aboutI am surprised by how much I like the MR helmet, I really think they did a great job, a good way to end the Star Wars replicas line, the mandible issue is purely an assembly thing, easily fixed I imagine? Again great pics everyone who's chimed in
![]()
Simply stunning shots Alex... man IF you were in the UK I'd like to use you as my costume photographer!
Love the comparisons, as already stated a little gutted about the mandible taper and the additional kill-stripe? Why on earth they didn't listen to the guru's here at the TDH...
Still, it gives us that last stepping stone to reach?
I mean, if we all had the 'be-all' lid now... it would be like an end to an era? for me it was like watching the last Star Wars film in the series... Great! but always gutted that there would be no more...
Glad I got my FPH and ordered my MR... both excell in both their arena's 'fan vs commercial' hats off to both!![]()
