First timer , getting ready to do a cardboard build

Alright all i been looking at this site for a while now and i have come to the point that i'm going to build a helmet out of card so watch this space for replys questions and pictures hope you can all give me a helping hand when i get stuck cheers

First off all its just for show i know i couldn't troop in it all for fun first i would love to get hold of an abs one or something but see how it all comes on

Good luck with your helmet build! You've certainly found the right place for info.

With several coats of acrylic sealer on both the outside and inside, it becomes very strong (depending on the type and thickness of cardboard). I have dropped my helmet several times and it has held up.

If you plan to make a mold and cast from your sculpture then it won't matter what it's made of. If not, then coating it in resin will make it reasonably strong, especially if you don't plan to wear it... although I should warn you. I built mine with the intention of it only being for display, and now I absolutely gotta find a reason to wear it.
