hello all, I want to start by saying thank you to all the members who helped me out by posting replies to my prep threads. This is my first time working with a helmet kit and it has been enjoyable thus far. I have the vizor pretty much done. not 100% happy with the vertical portions but ill see if it works out. the ears came pre assembled and i have the RF stalk drilled and on the helmet. My First Questions before i begin spraying this thing are, since this is a cc helmet do i still need to primer it and paint it silver ?or will buffing it with steel wool be good enough, also if some one could post screen shots of the range finder that would be great since im having trouble finding good reference photos, thanks all!! updates soon.

This is the lid as it sits now, and this will be a ROTJ paintjob

I will soon be starting my ROTJ paint scheme as a first timer (at least to Fett) too, so I will be anxious to see your progress! I too have a CC helmet and I would assume that once you buff it to a shine you wouldn't need to put a metallic silver layer on it as it would be kind of redundant. I am by no means an expert so if I am wrong please let me know. :)

Edit: lots of weird formatting stuff

Mine was an ESB but I used a combination of a scalpel and a needle files to place the damage on mine but make sure to check the reference photo's and templates before putting them down. Later fine scratches like on the back panels, dome and cheeks I added using a scalpel once the primary paint work was done.
I used a primer Basecoat on my CC and didn't buff the thing up too much; I was concerned about paint adhesion with the CC finish and whilst I felt the buffed metal finish would be a nice idea that it might be too bright and shiny for the desired finish that doesn't appear particularly shiny to me. Good luck dude.

Really your call on the primer. With it fine sanded or polished and clean from any contaminants like mold release or hand grime, the paint will adhere very well to the CC layer. Depends if you are going to do it layered and leave the CC as your silver show thru. And if it is too bright, you can always dull it down with the weathering process.

ok guys how did you apply the physical damage to the helmet??i am unsure how to go about this part?

Pull up the reference pic with the close ups of the physical damage, lightly sketch it out with a pencil so you can get your sizing and shapes right, then hit it with a dremel/cutting wheel by lightly tapping it in the right spot. Just take your time and go slow.
