First Helmet Form

Hi everyone. First let me say this the first time I have tried to sculpt a mold for a resin cast Fett Helm. So be gentle. I would like you opinions on what I did right and wrong. There is still alot of sanding, etc left to do. I just wanted to see what I need to modify.

I commend you on your efforts, but to be honest I think its to early to tell, you'll have to get closer to the finished product first, there's just too much "ruff" to try to look through. But its coming along well, keep it up and the pics coming.

First thing Id say is the dome needs to be about an inch higher ,and alot of sanding ,

Wich helmet templates you used as a base for this sculpt?
As BGHunter said, you must raise the dome, but there are other parts you should correct:
- the T-visor area should be parallel to each other
- the cheeks must lean deeper into the helmet
- the front part is bigger than the back of the helmet
- in the second image the helmet looks longer than it should... But this might be because of the image
I recommend that when you build the helmet, check out other members threads with similar build and follow each step correctly, then if you are happy with all the modifications you can start using bondo.

I hope I didn't sound too harsh, but you wanted onest opinions and this is what I did.

Thanks all for the input. I used wizardofflight's templates, but just to get the basic shapes. RafalFett thanks alot. Its a very early stage of the build. I still have tons of sanding and shaping to do on the cheeks etc. I just wanted to see if I was even close and to see what needed to be changed.

Again thanks to all who responded. I have to say, its very intimidating to post pics of a build here. There are a ton of talented people here. I look forward to any advice I can get from people with experience. This is my first time to try building any armor of any kind.

To be honest I think your going about it the hard way , as it will take alot of sanding and re bogging (thats what we call filling with epoxy) to get it to the point your happy with it ,
I used to build my helmets up by cutting up 4 and 10 litre plastic paint pots and hot glueing them together and using a cut up helmets (bike ,batting , hard hat, even a horse ridding helmet once) for the domes, then the only thing needed to be bogged up were the seem lines , then once I got to a point were I was happy with them Id make sillicon molds , then pull fiber glass casts, then Id cut up and rework the casts and remold
Any way, its a learning experiance , just keep at it and take on what people tell you and use what works for you , and in the end its sadisfying finishing a helmet that you built up from the ground,

These guys are giving you good advice, but kudos to you for making the effort! I couldn't get as far as you have in a million years! There is nothing better than seeing members expanding their skill set.
