First Ever Helmet Build!!! (pepakura) Help a newbie out?

Hi guys

First off I hope I am ok creating a new thread before posting anything.... I'm brand new to the site but registered because I REALLY, REALLY want a Boba Fett helmet. I know that I can buy the raw casts online (and still tempted) but I also wanted a new hobby and therefore I put them both together. I have opted to use Fierfek's pep file for Boba and was hoping anybody would be able to offer me help as I go through the process?

I am a complete newbie at building, I don't think I've even built LEGO before, and with the sheer number of star wars lego I know there is no excuse...

Anyway, here is what I have so far. I'm pretty happy with it tbf! Just the ridge looks a little messy, what do you think? Any help very welcome!

Thanks.

It seems that a lot of scratch builders will stick to the templates on here. This will be really interesting to see something different and what you have already done looks like a great start. Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

I think you're on the right track. I have no experience with the pep file builds but it looks not too bad. Any ridges and such will get puttied and sanded out regardless. You may find the Rafalfett templates better for the bottom half. Worth looking into.

Thanks mate, I did come across Rafalfett's stuff when searching around, so will definitely keep it in mind when/if I get to the lower half haha!

good luck mate! ^^
Thank you, in my head I already have a full suit on display in my house.... In reality I've only got a paper hat at the moment  But its a great new hobby for me.

I did start one out of cardboard but found it difficult to cut and work with. I think this is 'easier' for me as it is basically 'painting by numbers' style. Its quite intricate at times but its awesome when it starts to come together.

So I've added the front to the dome and I'm RELATIVELY happy with it; looks a bit like Boba I think ;) Just got to do the back and the ears now and I'm ready to attempt the resin etc. Will update when I've finished the PEP build! Slightly addicted at the moment, want to keep building, even if it means not seeing sunlight

Little update guys, begun to add the ears now. Taking a little longer than I had hoped. Do you think it is looking ok at the moment? I'm concerned that the front of the visor is at angle, and doesn't sit perpendicular to the flat part at the back (where the vents go). If you look at the middle pic, it looks diagonal (from left up to right, like a / shape). I understand I haven't attached the right ear yet which could help the issue. Question, if it doesn't what can I do to help this matter? Also a comparison in terms of size next to my Kylo Ren Black Series helmet...

My only concern atm is the general shape looks quite off atm, and it might be hard to fix that. Looks quite narrow. Might need something inside support wise to push it out and stop it flexing so much. Did you use normal paper or cardstock?

Hi mate! I used cardstock (well UK equivalent). I know what you mean regarding the shape but (I'm hoping) that will even itself out once I've added the ears and the remaining pieces. If not I will have to start again and see if I can find some thicker card. Thanks for the pointer though, I'll keep it in mind as/when I finish the pep stage.
