First Bucket: The Dreaded Rubies

New Hunter
Hello all!
For several years now, I have been watching this site and planning on making my very own Boba Fett costume. This year I finally took the initiative to join the site and begin working on an ESB/ AoSW costume.
Unfortunately, like most people my age, I have so many things to buy, yet not very much money. I found this Rubies for $20 and thought it would be worth using as a starter bucket.
Please feel free to comment!
Thank You!

It started life out like this (with visor attached):

And I have gotten it to here so far:

Looking good for you first(of many) builds.I would say you have done well with yuor $20 investment.
One suggestion and I am sure you have thought of this is replace your RF stalk. And it looks like you need some "weathering" for a ESB helmet. It still looks clean.
again it is looking GREAT :cheers

Forgive the lame question but is the Rubies helmet vinyl/plastic or fiberglass? A local costuming store has a helmet but its fiberglass. Anyway, great start! Keep us updated with progress.

Thank you for your comments! Keep them coming!
The Rubies is a vinyl/plastic/resin material that is incredibly malleable. IMO fiberglass would be a much nicer build!
I am going to paint on the kill stripes sometime this month (busy traveling) and see if I can get some grey paint to do the various marks on the helmet before i start weathering it. As for the RF, I was originally planning on scratch building an aluminum RF with the LED's and so on, but I think my time would be better spent finishing off the paint work of this helmet, and then scratch building a new, much more accurate bucket.

That might be the Don Post Deluxe.. that was made in fibreglass if my memory serves me well... :)

Other than that, all Rubies and DP's were made of vinyl... never leave them in a car:p

Btw nice paintjob you have going there :D Next step would be to order a new Visor for i guess, and replace the RF... but great work so far :D
