    Update:

Just wanted everyone to know that we have built an interior for this helmet - ala Ridell :-)
Will have 'em molded by next week & pics would be posted.
    Thanks!

The interior looks really sweeeet! It should fit the larger-sized helmets...

I was curious also about the "a la riddell" part for the interior of the helmet, so I asked Mardon about it and he sent me this pic. (hosting courtesy of Secolfett)
    Here's the mock-up he did, I think it looks AMAZING. . .

Awesome ain't it? Hell, you should see his 1/6 scale WW2 Vechs & Armor. If I didn't know better, I'd swear he was shrinking down Real Sized Vechs to sell em.

    Once again, Mardon, excellent work!

    Stay safe.

OK, I'm curious about the interior workings. Are they going to be fiberglass or some kind of foam padding? I'm in the process of trying to get my hands on the interior of a few riddel fotball helmets to send to Rex and Mardon. I'll go and remind the coach again today about getting them to me.

Hopefully these pads will make a secure fitting bucketthat moves well with you and we won't have to worry about a hatband slipping around.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Yup, I'm definitely "nuts" when it comes to making stuff LOL!

I plan to make it all in FG - unless ofcourse if Slowmo could provide those paddings. I replicated everything in card & will be molded in FG including the paddings, but if there's actual paddings to use, then the FG parts will definitely be low in cost.
Dunno if it will fit other buckets - but its a custom fit for the MLC Helmet

This has been discussed before a couple of times but I didnt think it would ever come around. That looks awesome Mardon but I think that the FG will be a bit bothersome for some of us fellows with large noggins.

Re: Finally- MLC Helmet is done!

This is the first I have checked this thread and I must say I am very impressed. The inner portion is amazing! Any possibility of doing a Jango helmet???

Re: Finally- MLC Helmet is done!

Tk-Fett - not a problem my friend - anyone could elect having those FG cushions or not. If you could find real cushions, then so much the better. But if small noggin folks would like to try our FG cushions, then naturally they're welcome to it
I'll have both price options - those with included FG cushions & for those without Sounds fair?

Mirax - yeah, I think Rex got an order for our bucket being converted into a Jango. Just a little bit ear modification & covering the dent.

I was sure you had thought of that Mardon but if there is any possiblity for a real cushion insert im sure the response would be better. (By 1 person at least)

Tk-Fett - fully understood buddy Trust me, I'd preffer the actual cushions myself. Unfortunately, we dont have that kind of cushions over here in the Philippines, so I guess i have to rely from somebody over there in the states who can find these for us.

The FG cushions that I made would just be a "back-up" if for some reason we cant find any - although, it doesnt mean the end user be forced to get FG cushions from us. Thats why I'll provide 2 price options.

    Holy shinto.

I just found this thread and I am, to understate, very impressed with that helmet. I really like the movie-sized proportions of this one. I will be in the market for a movie-sized ESB Fett helmet myself soon, and I'm trying to evaluate all of the available options.

Just for clarification--are the helmets fiberglass, or cardboard?

Cardboard for the mockup- fiberglass for actual helmet though.

Yup, all fiberglass, w/ the interior gelcoated. Visor area already cut out. Very little to no sanding required before painting.

Re: Finally- MLC Helmet is done!

ok, I have a bit of bad news about getting the inside paddings from the ridell football helmets we have here at the school. I finally got tired of waiting for the coach to hook me up with them so I went rummaging around in the equipment room. Everything we have are the inflateable type pads. They have foam but use air pressure to ensure a proper fit. The problem is that I don't think ANY of us would want to drill a hole in our nice new buckets to run the valve stem to the outside. I will try to run over to a local sporting goods place that we buy a lot of our equipment from and see if they have the regular foam pads sometime this week. I'll give a further update when I know more.

Re: Finally- MLC Helmet is done!

You know, one place that might have the desired "old school" style helmet padding is a second-hand sporting goods store. They might have some old football helmets for reasonable prices that could be gutted.

    Just a thought!
