A few questions about Boba Fett helm/armor

    Hello!

I'm a complete newbie on these kinda things, I'm even bad at painting, putting things together etc. Heck, sometimes I can't even find the right things to buy for getting something complete.

Anyhow, my story goes on and I was thinking of getting my own complete Boba armor (for use of course) but I got no clue on where to start.

I spent a few hours on this forum yesterday, looking through alot of threads but my mind is still pretty hazy.

I was wondering what's best (and easiest) to actually get a complete armor, is it doing it yourself or try and find anyone that sells complete stuff?

Is it possible to find the MR helm for sale, complete?
    And how about the armor?

Just to point it out, I'm thinking of putting on a high budget for this kinda thing, I'm not after some cheap stuff.

And, I don't like using Ebay (saw that alot of you got bad experience too). Living outside the US too, if this makes any difference.

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

IMO if you have the money, its easier and quicker to buy one. That's what I'm doing. My ESB Boba is 90% complete and I bought it all. If you are looking to go ESB Boba, check out the Jeremy Bulloch project here on TDH. There will be a list of people supplying their works. Surely, some of the best in the business, and all trustworthy.

What version are you planning on making?if you're shooting for an esb helmet I'd get either an FPH or Sgt. Fang bucket, but if you're going for AOSW, I firmly believe that Terminal Fettlers helmet is the best you can get. Heck, you might even be able to get him to paint it for you too. Do a search for my TF helmet to see his mad painting skills, he also has a thread showing off his own hlmet which came out even better than mine did.

As far as armor goes, it's cheaper to buy unless you already have everything you need to make it. If I were you I'd shoot for Boba maker ir FPv3. If you're going to paint it yourself start on the armor, it's not *easy* but deffinetly not as hard as the helmet and it's a good place to warm up your skills.

If you have the money, keep a look in the cargo hold for completed pieces. Then you don't have to assemble or paint. Or you can buy unfinished pieces, and commission someone to paint/assemble/finish them for you. Usually someone will post in the Cargo Hold that they are looking to someone to paint/trim/assemble/etc. it doesn't take long and you will get responses. They should also post pics of their work and provide you pricing. Good luck!

I found this useful! If I were to buy it piece by piece how would I know of the quality? is there any sure way? Also, is it better to have the armor unpainted and have someone paint it all for you that way you don't get diff looking finishes? Im right there with Timotei, Id like a movie quality Fett suit but am unsure of my craftsmanship to create my own accuartely and correctly.

Re: A few questions about Boba Fett helm/armor

For the most part all the established artists here have had plenty of customers so if you run a search for "so and so" usually there's a thread or two for them. As far as the finishes go, the whole suit is pretty mixed and matched so a different style or finish doesn't look out of place. As long as they are both done realistically. On another note, if you are new to painting, don't expect it to come out perfect by any means. My advice would be to make some trash can armor and practice on that several times.

I'd say the answer is to do your homework and study what the pieces should look like, and then spend time here viewing folks's work. If it looks good and people are giving good reviews on the service and quality, chances are that's a good place to go for your item.
