    Aug 31, 2012, 4:07 PM - Fettpride ESB helmet workup! #1

    Hi everyone,

This has to be my 4th time into Fett costuming! As a huge fan of Star Wars, I've always wanted an accurate looking ESB Fett to go with my ESB Vader and TK statues.

Well, I'm finally going through with this ALL THE WAY! Although I sold off most of my parts last year, I lucked out in having my friend selling me his parts (some choice stuff too).

I'm just about done with this Fettpride helmet I bought back in '09. Here's some pics:

Still not done (still need to finish the back, tweak the visor, ears, etc) , but I really like it's looking so far.

I'll have some finished pics up soon!

Nice attention to detail! I love that fade beneath the kill stripes.

I was wondering if I should make the fade beneath the kill stripes a bit brighter?

Thank you for making such an accurate helmet!!

Man, I think I may have lost the bottom aluminum ear piece.

Does anyone still make these parts? Sigh....

I like to keep it in the "just noticeable" range on my ESBs.

Beautiful paintup my good man. I would keep the fading as is - its a nice balance bwtween noticing it, bit not overpowering.. :-)

Thanks again guys for the kind words. I've noticed that most of you are top notch Fett painters so compliments coming from you guys are special.

Anyhow, I have this piece now to install:

I've been looking everywhere on this board, but I've had no luck. I know it goes behind the vent area in the back but how do you install this?

This is how I did it on my FPH. Check post #100.

That's not the only method, but it worked for me, and it's still solid as a rock.

I think the screen accurate mounting of the mq-1 board is with some kind of epoxy putty along the sides (left and right, not top and bottom). I haven't done this myself though and have no idea how easy it is to do.

I really like this method. Going give this one a shot. Thanks Superjedi!

I actually was thinking of doing that method too. I have some Apoxie sculpt I could use, but I'll probably use Superjedi's method.

I made this piece with some mounting pegs that I added in the corners for ease of installation. Also probably not screen accurate, but I imagine it would work pretty well. Here's a few pics:

    It's a beautiful helmet

And I see you found the missing ear piece.

    Yep, sure did! Lucked out!

Here's a few more angles on the helmet. Just realized I screwed up and forgot the 14th killstripe! I'll add it back on again in the future, but the lack of it is growing on me. Kinda gives my helmet character (the unlucky helmet!)

OK heres the thing with installing it like this and Superjedis way its NOT accurate to use the whole board...the top half if you wanna call it top half as its really left and right is used. That being said, you need to cut it in half, and get a peice of accrylic (probably left over welders shield, which is what i use) cut it to size...which is weird kinda a rectangle with a leg to go on the side of the Chip, take a look close at pictures of the back of the helmet and you can see what i mean. Then use epoxy to hold it in add Duct tape and Boba's your uncle.

heres a pic of one i did with a real MQ1 for a guy last year...

Just to clarify, from post #100 in the thread I referenced:

    Quote superjedi said:
Using JLuck's excellent circuit board bracket idea, I built one for my helmet! It's not as pretty as his, but it does work very well!
I was using JLuck's method, and I know that it's not screen accurate.
