FETT PRIDE cc WIP ; )

Thanks Phantom and bubba! Phantom, ill be looking for your ESB.
Jinto- Thanks man. Yes, I will be sure to mask of the dent then mist very lightly around. Im going to go really light w/ Fett 4 reals technique that he has shared w/ us as I havent done it before : ). I can always add more.
Thanks guys

Not to downplay FP's helmet at all, but it's never a good idea to use ANY fan work as a reference, even something that good. We all make mistakes / cheat / cut corners / miss details. It's like anything else... a copy of a copy loses quality, then a copy of that copy loses a bit more.

Particularly since you can get every angle of the real RotJ helmet out of the galleries here, I'd say stick to just those.

It looks like you are off to a great start!

Hey stormtrooperguy- Yes, I agree. I have actually gone back and altered some areas as I have been using the MOM photos. The photos you see above were all using the MOM images. Thanks for the input as I really am learning a ton from you guys!
Thanks

Alright guys- After deadlands phenominal help w/ the visor install, a little skewing issue w/ the mandibles (due to removal of visor), some UN-SKEWING : ) of the mandible..well as good as I could get it, I was able to mask and mist the dome this evening. I will most likely post some pics tomorrow evening as I would like to finish the second session of masking ( the black and grey misted areas), followed by the greens. phew!!! Deadland and I have also discussed that it would be best to follow a light version of jinto and Fett 4 reals misting and color protocal due to the fact I am rattle-canning (not air brushing). Once completed, I will have deadland detail via airbrush as there seems to be a good amount of overspray as well as progressional fading ( especially the back). Anyways, stay tuned for this evolving thread.
Thanks
B

Alright guys..just as I promised... I have delivered! Here are some shots of the dome w/ the liquid mask removed. Overall, I am extremely pleased w/ the outcome so far. In order to remove the masking this time I used a rubber glue remover which allowed me to pull the latex, then clean off the excess. Also, although the pics arent the best of qualities, you can see the light black and grey misting over some of the "metal" areas.

Thanks Clone! The cc really pops on it.
Fett- Ya, I figure when deadland gets on it w/ the airbrush we can get more detail w/ the grey misting and black overspray. I wanted to be conservative this time around due to the fact that if I went too much..theres no going back LOL!
Thanks guys!

Hey all- Just peeled the masking on the posterior of the lid, with a paper clip added the scratches and miniscule black markings. Let me know what you guys thing thus far? This evening I plan to mask the lower cheeks and attempt getting the greens acurate.

Thanks Deadland!
Fett- Its a mix of Krylon satin-hunter, and Spruce just as I did for my sons. Its brighter than the picture shows and very close the H photos..If you look to the far right of the 2nd picture you may get more of an acurate estimate. Also, I misted some charcol over the far right. Sorry, the pics are from my iphone so not the best quality ; ). Thanks for the input guys I plan on hitting the lower and upper cheeks saturday and sunday followed by the claret/ maroon early next week.

Hey Fett- Ya, I find w/ the rattlecans its challenging to get that back spot on as far as the brightness. I feel like I did get it pretty close..well, see how it comes together. Ill be looking for your input when I get the next group of pics up. Thanks man.

This is a great thread. I am glad to see that I was on the right track cutting out and sanding down my visor area. Now that I see yours, it is nearly identical!

Thanks DarthVeach!
Question guys: With respect to the "lighter green" patches on the cheeks, is it actually a misted lighter shade, or a solid shade with a patch liquid masked off followed by a light black mist...then, once the masking is removed it appears lighter? Below is an example. Notice the upper area on the lower cheek.
Thanks

Thanks Fett- Ya, I did the first part as you did although I misted some grey at the start as well. Im going to mask again tomorrow, hit green and mist. I dont want to get too dark because when I hit the blue on the upper cheek, the reflection really seems to darken the lower cheek making the lighter colors pop. I noticed this on my sons hasbro and was thankful I didnt go darker. Thanks man! Just as I thought.
