FETT PRIDE cc WIP ; )

Hey Fett 4 real-Got it! Thats what I was thinking ; )..because the thick part is only about 1/4" long. It just sort of lips out a bit on both sides so I figured I would very carefully dremmel it a bit, then finish w/ a file just to take some of that thickness off. Any other thoughts?

Alright- Moving right along...Managed to dremmel the visor section down to a reasonable thickness first, using the sanding bit on the dremmel, then smoothing out w/ 80 grit sand paper. Once deadland assists me with the visor install, I will mask all of the silver (cc) areas w/ some new masking fluid Fett7 recommended as its a bit thicker and easier to work with.

This is what I was talking about see the far helmet how on the lower back plate the artist has painted black on to the silver now weather there is liquid mask under parts of the blak or she scratched them of its hard to tell but for your purposses liquid mask the spots that stay silver the dust a coat of black with a light dust of gray on a few uneven patches like in the image same goes for the dome with the grey under the green liquid mask of the area that stay silver then hit bits of the dome with the gray Sandy Helmets 01 (1).jpg

if that makes sens

Hey jinto- Yep I see what you mean. Ill mask the "silver" parts then for some of the areas I will dust a coat of blak and grimy grey, then mask those.. then hit with the main color. Does that make since? Thanks again, I really think this will add another dimension.

It makes alot of difrence , remember to use liquid mask on the bits that stay silver under the black (the scratches) Also being its a CCand not paint if you gaff up and need any new or extra scratchs it wont be to hard to simulate them with out havbing to worry about going through the silver paint , how ever there are bits were the white of the gelcoat shows through so youl need to paint them on
,I believe the one in the far end of the pic is the ROTJ, so try and imitate the black in the same form Sandy did

Well guys- Nothing like a cup of coffee, Toy Story, and sketching on you BF FP CC on Sunday morning : )..So, I began sketching some of the pertinant weathered spots..you know, the "upside down Christmas tree, the "sad dog", and the "drooping dent". Anyways, I have also added a comparison pic (hope FP doesnt mind) as his ROTJ pics are amazing to work with, in order for you guys to see placement and spacing. It seems to be prett darn close. Feel free to comment.

That "reference" photo isnt of the real deal is it? Reason I say this is, theres no misting under the green in the top splotch of silver....as seen in MoM photos of the actual helmet. Having painted a few ROTJ helmets I slowly noticed as did a few others after researching the Sandy helmets had a misting of dark grey or black over the silver before paint...check out the pic from the gallery and look at the MoM for actual pics of the helmet using other peoples work is like passing a message down a line of people something always gets lost in translation

Also in the ROTJ images in the misc images the heilman photos are a good reference from the helmet BEFORE it got trashed by mishandling

Awesome! I do have a couple of the MOM pics im referencing...I tend to bounce around to get different angles..a little from the MOM, a little from FP etc..Thanks. I can really see the misted black like you have been telling me, especially on the larger weathered spots. Is the dent misted?

Ok, I got all the weathering sketched out and a coat of Krylon clear coat as instructed by Fett 4 real. Once I get the visor installed and the silver masked I will begin the paint process. In the meantime, here are some shots as of today.

Hey Fett, most of its there but some didnt show up in the photos : ), and some im just adding w/ the masking fluid. I mainly wanted to get the real noticeable shapes, then add the rest.
Thanks
