    Fett Ears Question

when i received my helmet, i noticed that the ear pieces have a lot of resin overflow, thus meaning il have to some how take the overflow off for the ears to sit flush against the helmet, has anyone else had this problem? if so, how did you fix it?

    Re: Fett Ears Question

Some people may use a table-style disc sander, but I do it manually.
I take a full size sheet of sandpaper and lay it face up on a very smooth
surface, such as a large piece of glass.
Then I take the ear part and run it over the sandpaper in circles. It may
be slower than a disc sander, but it gets the job done.

    Re: Fett Ears Question

I do what superjedi does, but after taking a couple other steps. I find where the actual edge lines should be and mark them with a fine-tip marker. Then I grind down to that all the way around with a handheld electric finishing sander. That will just leave a bump in the middle of the back of the ear that I then sand down flat using the method above. I rotate the earpiece slowly as I go, so I don't accidentally take too much off one side without noticing. Yeah, it takes a while, but I prefer having that degree of control over material removal. You can always take more off. It's harder to put back on.
