ESB or ROTJ Version?

Hello all. I need some input. Bobamaker is going to make me a complete Fett. Problem is I'm not sure as to which version to choose? ESB or ROTJ?! Have dreamed about owning a Boba Fett costume since I was a kid (33 now). Really glad I "stumbled" onto this site. Hey it's my second posting...and climbing. Again thanx for all the input & comments on this.

Its really wich one you fancy more, I perfer the look of the ROTJ Fett with the more colorfull jet pack and dirty helmet. But he seemed more sinister in ESB. The putts went and offed himsellf in ROTJ so the ROTJ version dose lose a point or too for that. Study the pics and pic which verson you perfer.

Another point is that you're narrowing your decision to two Fetts, there's still special edition and the pre-production Fetts. Pre-Production is the one I'm working on.

All great Fetts, though if I am not mistaken... if you plan to join the 501st it will want to go with the Special edition, ROTJ, or ESB... the SE is a great hodge podge that love the ESB helmet but want everything else ROTJ.

what is so great about the 501st? I dont even know what the tk things stand for.Are they that strict with stuff?

the 501st is a worldwide costuming club. we do a lot of high visibility promotional stuff, so the requirements for costume accuracy / quality are pretty high.

that's the entire legion of thousands of people all over the world in a single sentence ;)

Adding to tk7602's comment, we are also a non-profit organization that does countless charity events. We get to wear armor and make the kiddos smile!

Do ROTJ

Wow. Talk about your can of worms! I was really torn over which version of Fett to do. I like the ESB lid and cape but I like the ROTJ gauntlets and JP. In the end I went with SE. I got the lid, gauntlets, and JP I wanted and had to lose the cape. Oh well, can't win them all.

I did the Special Edition -edited scene in star wars with jabba- Fett to, imo best of both worlds. ESB is just to green for me. I like the standout colors on the ROTJ Fett armor.

I love the ESB look, it's the one that first captivated me and got me interested in the costume. When I started doing mine there was a handfull of other guys doing the ESB version, and now while it is becoming much more popular, the majority of people still seem to do SE or ROTJ. Honestly just go for whichever one you like the most, heck I'd love to see more people tackle some of the different preproduction versions of the suit.

I agree with JFJR. first time i saw fett in ESB I was really captivated. I dunno, he just feels so much "tougher" in ESB. do whichever one you like the most. Honestly, if you are really serious about doing a suit, and are gonna be dedicated & have the drive to finnish it, then you should be able to decide fairly easy which one really excites you.

Well i am going to stick my neck out on this but mine is a kinda 'special' special edition. I love the ESB bucket, ammo belt, cape and gauntlets and i love the ROTJ jet pack. Also i hate the ROTJ spats. So as you can see i will not be joining the 501st  but at least i will be happy if my local Starwars group let me parade with them.

and most importantly i will be happy with the look.

Thanx for all the input! I'm gonna watch the Special Edition scene today to see the changes in the suit. I will be joiningthe 501st, when the suit is completed. Leaning toward the ESB version, as that was the first time I saw Boba Fett. Can anyone post all three version pics of the Boba Fett( ESB, SE, ROTJ)? Again thank you for the input everyone!

I don't think the 501st is as strick as everyone says. Look at the pic they let me in with ( left pic) This was taken at then end of C3 and as you can see it wasn't that good. After 3 days of wearing it alot of things broke or had fallen off. I have also seen coustumes far worse than this one in the members section... some of these might have been removed since I last checked though.
This is what my armour looks like today ( right pic)and I am still a 501st member. This is a 100% improvement but it is still not screen acurate , but to me thats ok. I have a hogepodge of parts and the only time a get "you have ROTJ gauntlets and cape and ESB this and that" is from a select few of the members of the 501st. The public only sees Boba Fett and to me that is what really counts. So, what im really saying is if you like ROTJ gauntlets and JP and like ESB everything else then do it. I dont think the 501st has become so anal in the past year that you wont get in if you do this( might want to check just to make sure though:confused )BTW I do have a JP on in these pics its just hidden behind my helm.

I have to say that this is why the costumes standards have declined in the 501st. There is an attitude of "Well it's good enough." If one person would tell me that my costume was inaccurate, it would ruin my day. I pride myself on being as screen accurate as possible. You know my GML thought I had photoshopped a pic of Boba out of ROTJ the first time he saw it. That made me feel great!

As we speak lists of costume requirements are being created by the different detachments as to what is considered essential in every costume. This will raise the standards of accuracy a great deal once they are instituted.

IMO, your first 501st costume needs to be as dead on accurate as possible. This not only ensures your membership but it also says a lot about your attention to detail and your character.

Tambo, I have to agree with you 100%. I would talk with you GLM before you start and find out his/her standards.

Pavespawn, I respect your views and do agree that there needs to be a set of minimum standards for all costumes. The big thing for me is if the standards are too "elite" the true reason why alot of people do this is lost. To me this is about having fun, helping people in need, and just making people happy .
Also I did not make this costume so I could join the 501st. I made it for me about 6 years before I even knew about the 501st or TDH, and it never should have been accepted as submitted.
