was some work but it's ok now!

He's got a really nice webpage. Really impressive.
ok I got basic colours on it.
takes 24 hours to drie so I had to lay in about a thousand acrobatic postures to get it all on... and then to think that none of these colours are definitive...
well here it is... also have to straiten the edges a bit and stuf...
got a good feelin' about this... so far... :b
here goes: :fettesb >>> :fettrotj ...
singing ...
"dont you wanna, wanna fanta..." i couldnt resist. Love the colors.
Thanks :thumbsupQuote:

Click on Boba Fett Props and there's a link to his email under "contact me."
look for bobamaker here on the board, he is a member..
now...
this was kind of a pain, but with several washes it's now kind of ok...
add the killstripes...somehow (yeah I know the TK-409 temps and to spray em on... problem is not decent spray can can be found here...)
I'll figure something out.
then after the killstripes it's on to some black, grey and brown misting...
Looking good, cant wait to see more!!!
Just curious, do you mean 'No decent spray cans in general' Or 'No decent spray cans with respect to a certain color you are looking for' The reason I ask, is that you can just use regular 'Orange' for the RotJ kill stripes. It's what I used on this bucket and it turned out nicely.Quote:

no I meant theres nothing available, definitly not matt...
added the killstripes shrinking and slightly altering TK-409's temps (thnx Chris :) )
and printed them on sticker paper, just put that on, tape of the rest of the helmet and sprayed Tamiya light orange on it and then some red I had laying around... they're brilliant... no... not in the word of being good, but brilliant means Shiny... super shiny...
but the mist dulled them down :)
here it is...
now on to some washes... and some scratches... :b
Excellent work...!!:suprise
I agree with spidey. Excellent :thumbsup
:albino
thnx guys!
this project will take some time... just looking at all those pics makes me dizzy... theres SO much detail... scratches, the colours... :b
yugh!
next time... I am not going to paint when I'm all weary from a party...
I kinda like the ear-caps and the right cheek.. but the left... growesome... think I'm gonna redo that..somehow.
couldn't resist... bloody hell that looks goofy :b :b
I think I got about 1/3 done now...
lot of work...
the lightning is a bit weird but well...
still not to happy about the left cheek, but it's better then what it was.
now I'll also dremmel the correct scratches out a bit when it's all done.
****, that is looking sweet!
:lol don't know why! but the "****" being followed up by "that is looking sweet!" made me laugh so loud!!
thnx JFJ!! :)
tommorow I'll continue with the back, and then the dome to finally finish up with the rangefinder.
little weak though.
gonna check if I can get a nice aluminium one made by my neighbour at the steel factory..
Any more compliments and your head is going to be too big for the helmet. :lol Kidding.
I wish i had the extra money. If did , I would purchase a BM helmet and hire you to paint it.
Outstanding work. :thumbup Your skills in my opinion rank up there with the best artists on this forum.
And to think. You were ready to give up a while back.
Rock on dude..
:albino
Brian
all 2 true!
and to be honest... I can't wait to get this thing done :b
if only for some rest :lol
thnx Jun Garros! :)
Wow, thats an amazing :thumbup paint job R_Boba. Your work has inspired me to buy a bobamaker helmet of my own and put my dream of painting a Fett bucket back on track.
I joined this forum months ago but due to circumstances :( I wasnt able to pusue this hobby for a while. Well all I can say is that the exceptional standard of craftmanship and artistry Ive witnessed her over the last week or has given me so much enthusiasm and inspiration.
Keep up the good work guys :)
I really like the weathering... Awesome job!!!
:) thank you!!
and welsh!! you'll get there! and ask for help any time you want to anyone you want, that's what this place is for.
when you get it, make sure to post your progress, I'd like to see what someone else does with a BobaMaker!
done a little bit of the back, main matt grey/silver/black mixy thingy scratches are on, the some washes over that, make some nice spots with the grey/blue like colour and then the bright silver/chrome marks :)
then some scratching with the iron nail and tada... another section completed... the dome is gonna be the last thingy I gues...
the red section is finished though, aswell as the keyslots area...
thats truely brilliant work. The weathering is fantastic really replicates the used "star wars" galaxy look.
Can I ask what tecniques are you using to weather and blend the base colours. Is it best to use washes or misting? Waht colours are you using to weather anyway. It seems to have a lot of depth so I assume your using more than just black.
Im sorry to ask but Im just completely clueless on painting techniques so Im trying to learn as much as possible. I really like your painting style.
Keep us updated on your progress on this fine bucket.
DDDDDDDDAAAAAAAMMM!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks great
hope my jodo bucket comes out that good
thnx people :)
@ welsh:
well the methods used are outlined in the text aswell, but basically it comes down to doing most of it all by brush and a hard paint, shiny 2, but very durable and very inaccurate.
then washing on the right colours of green and red (wich takes ages)
also to make it matt and cover the brush stripes.
then on to misting, using black, brown and pearl grey.
worked very well, I had never done that befor ebut I love the look of it.
the wash on soem spots where it's necesary judging by the reference pics. it's difficult though... and It didn't work out 100 % for me either... but well this is kinda funny the way it's coming along.
the silver scratches come next, aswell as the other coloured scratches.
then wash on some dirt spots on some scratches and well... there ya have it.
hope that helps a bit.
feel free to pm or post any specific questions.
one word of advice though... I'm kinda... mudling along, this is not the best or most conventional way to paint a bucket... but I don't have air brush so the layering techniques are way out of the question for me, as not even normal spray cans can be found here...
I have a shop nearby though, that sells a bazillion different colours for model painting!! :D small Enamel tins from Humbrol.
or I can move down the street for a shop that sells a little less variaty of colours but has em as acryllics...
2/3 now... only the dome remains and the rangefinder, then add the liner, visor and possible LED's...
I think the right back side was the most trying part of this thing, thnx for Fettprides huge pics of his bucket, as the MoM pics did not include that angle.
very impressive ! Amazing how far along this has come !
:) thnx man!
almost there.
I hope to begin on the dome section my next free afternoon of school, wich is probably friday or something.
done some more green washes on the back, to dimm the blue that was on the green instead of the silver scratches.
also done first few scratches on the dome... sjees this is much more work then I anticipated :lol
WOW, that looks straight outta ROTJ!
Awesome painting there mate, you must have put hours of work into it. I cant wait to see it when its finished.
One problem though . . . .
. . .I'l be constantly nagging you for advice when my bobamaker helmet arrives :)
:D no problem dude! glad if I can help, shoot the PM's or post the questions, I'll be sure to reply.
Well I went to the local electrical store thing, and looked around for making the 12 V LED in the left gaunt work and for LEDs in the rangefinder...
well... it all comes down to soldering the stuff together...
Well.. atleast that's what the man at the desk told me. (I got this funny feeling he didn't want to sell me anything... might have been my hair or something, or I was insulting his high quality merchandise by using it on a stupid model thingy)
the 12 V LED can't be hooked to a battery because 12V batteries do not exist, mening I would have to buy an accu... and a loader... came down to 20 euros...
then all the wiring and ofcourse the tool for soldering it all together, wich was also 12 euros... then... the LED kits were there!! actually something that can be used instantly... 15 euros, all kinds of kits.
Ofcourse, I needed the soldering tool...
So, if I would have wanted to give that a try, I would have to spend 20+12+15... makes up for a bloody 47 euros and a very big chance of shortcircuiting all of it, as I have no experience with it...
Bloody hell... gonna ask my teacher at school if he's done this before or something. He might actually have some stuff laying around.
but for now... no LED's anywhere on my suit that actually work.
and a few more scratches...
Not to take away from your ESB Bucket...BUT this one is turning out soooo much better....:thumbsup
NOW get a Visor in that baby..:lol
Great Work.:cheers
:) thnx spidey!
that's mostly because I painted my ESB using the relativly small ref pics of StevetheSwede's helmet at starwarshelmets.com
I got to the TDH image archive at a time where almost my entire ESB suit was allready done...
On this one, with exception of missing hte air brush etc, I can do it right from the start. :)
I'll install the visor when all of the paint work is done, aswell as all the real scratches and dents etc. I don't want to risk scratching the visor during the scratch dremeling... let alone getting paint spots over it...
the old one is up for sale though I guess, should anyone be interested ( no, I know not or people like you Spidey... my ESB sucks in comparisson to your stuff!!) But PM me then if your interested...
some small facts about the old thingy...
ESB Boba Fett bucket
-converted Rubies Jango Fett
-newly installed visor
-reworked RF ear-cap
-keyslots cut out (and has somethingies sticked behind it, I suggest upgrading)
-hat liner made out of sponges, easily removeable and therefore adjustable.
well the flash makes it look like it came from mars or something... but its really kinda nice though...
whadda ya think?
(edit: I'll try to make some outside shots soon)

That bucket has seen some action!! I love it actually. Has that real lived in look y'know?
Great job! :cheers
Gonzo :fettesb
:) thnx
Fantasitc work R_Boba . .I've been looking forward to seeing your finished helmet! You've almost convinced me to do a ROTJ myself, but I'l resist the temptation for now, or buy another bucket lol.
It must have been a real labour of love to apply all that weathering. He certainly looks like he's been round the galaxy a few times .. but that used look is what characterizes Star Wars and you have captured that feeling perfectly with your bucket.
I really like your costume display too. Is your suit complete or do you still have a few things to finish?
Great work and a real inspiration.
This is great! There aren't a lot of pure ROTJ costumes on here, so it's good to see one that's so well done.
awesome job!! I am very impressed
:D thnx people!!
well Welsh, it's almost done, as good as sort of say.
I need to make new gloves, but my bro isn't in a hurry to get the leather ones for me I want to use.
hmm... the LEDs in the rangefinder should arive within the next 2 weeks at my school...
Im gonna try my casting skills etc by making a replica of my own blaster (since it broke in 2) and then get the iron grip from my original and place that in between the 2 (what I hope to become) rubber parts, the main gun and the stock.
and I might... just might but I don't think so... repaint my knee armor, as those have ESB weathering...
then I also need toe spikes, but I'm no hurry with those...
and then some extra's I might do in the future like chest light display, lit up jet pack beacon etc.
I might also create a new cod and backplate if I get the hang of the fiberglas stuff etc... but that's a plan not suited for anytime soon.
Fantastic work... I'm in awe! Looking at the final pics on the mannequin it looks like the MoM exhibit. Congrats!
:) thnx webchief!
here are some pics with decent lightning :)
the lightning is so bloody different but...
Awesome work as always bud! I love the mannequin setup you got there, I wish I could do the same instead of leaving my costume in a bin on the floor!
thnx:) !!
and your costume deserves a mannequin... only ... these things are a pain in the whatever...
hulk hogans my god... I'm as fat as Jar Jar!!
so had to dremel alot, and not done yet :)
The helmet looks fantastic. :thumbup
I have seen your progress on the entire costume since you started and i must say you have created a masterpiece. A museum quality work of art in my opinion.
Well done. :cheering
:cheers to ya.
:albino
:suprise ***!!!!!:suprise That is freakin' amazing!!!:thumbup :thumbup :thumbup Looks like that helmet made the trip to the Sarlacc Pit and back out...twice!!!
Makes me consider re-painting my first bucket in ROTJ version (and it's not the first time that I think about doing that). Awesome, just awesome!!! My bucket's off to you.
Robert :fettrotj
Very Nice Job!!!...Someday I'll get unpacked and complete mine :)
:) whiej! cool people get motivated from my work and that of others here aswell!!
thnx , means alot to me... almost time for a "thank you thread" but I'll post that along some comparisson foto shoot im gonna do when the guns cast in rubber I think...
amazing! hopefully i'll get mine that nice at some point!
Very nice paint job...I'd be very proud to have such a nice bucket.
thnx:)
thing that's starting to annoy me now is that I didnt sculpt it...
I'm going to try sculpting soon for my new costume, and see if I have a neck for making fiberglas buckets, armor pieces from sculpts I made... even latex masks...
if I can do that... oohooo... I could make everything I have ever wanted!! :)
