ESB paintup!! DONE (MORE OR LESS)!!

cr4nky

Hunter
I thought I´d share with you guys my helmet paintup.

I got my BM lid today, and I´m sooo happy with it!! Once I got it home I just had to start working on it, so I painted the inside black to start with.
After leaving that to dry for half a day I got started on the outside.

First, painting the base layer with Humbrol 147 (light grey). I´m using TF´s ESB paintup as a guide for this, since this is my first Fett helmet I don´t want to mess it up. Tomorrow I get started on the left ear.

(The images are mirrored, so no, the dent is not on the wrong side, hehe)

That's a beautiful bucket. I look forward to updated pics. Do you have any special plans for the interior of the helmet besides the flat black?

Yeah, hopefully I´ll get on the Stormrider foam rubber insides run :)

Oh by the way, ear´s all red!

Just finished making the tracing templates for the backs now, masking them tonight:)

Here are the tracings for the back. Just need to wait until tonight so the paint has fully cured and it´s on with the masking and second layer of paint. This will be covered with silver, and then I´ll mask a new layer for adding the dark grey and another one for the green. And so on, and so on, and so on, and so on... :)

Here´s some more progress guys. Tomorrow it´s on with the green on the left ear. As for the next colors on the back, I have to wait til my paints arrive so I´ll do some other parts while I wait.

Hope you like it (P.S! The large gray areas on the back are going to be beige, I just made a little booboo:)

cr4nky, that turns out very nice! Reminds me of my own helmet painting. Very good job you did so far!

Thanks bro.

The different scrapes and scratches won't be über-accurate, I think I'd go insane replicating every single one. But trying to get it as close as I can. As the wise Boba Swede stated: I choose sanity above accuracy ;)

Will probably be hitting a little standstill in the painting now, missing a lot of paints that I've ordered. But I'm leaving for Spain in a week anyway, so hopefully everything will have arrived when I'm back.

The helmet is looking outstanding so far. Can't wait to see what you've done next when you get back. Have a great trip in Spain!

Recently I recieved Stormriders awesome helmet interiors, so while I waiting for my paints from the states I thought I'd use some of the acrylics I have lying around to make the foam rubber a bit less "foamy"

Here's the pieces I have painted, the rest will stay as is.

These have been weathered more after the pics I showed in FettDads thread in the Cargo Hold.

freakin' sweet brother!! great job!

Thank my man!

Here are the finished pieces. Also included a shot of the paints and tools I used for this and a couple of detail shots showing you how cool it´s possible to get these without too much work.

I´ve written a short tutorial on how I did this for cupluv, if anyone wants it, just give me a hollar.
