DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
I've recently had hold of a bobamaker helmet (very impressive) but not sure about the size. I cant be certain as I didnt have my lid with me but it didnt seem much bigger than my DP95!
Do any bobamaker helmet owners (or the man himself;) ) have a comparison pic for size refrence?
Cheers

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
I'd like to see that also and maybe throw in a MS bucket for good measure.

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
id like to see that aswell... :) since I also requested it in a post a while ago, someone told me that the difference in an MS helmet and a DP are immense.
Dont know about the BobaMaker helmet. All I can say is that hes knees are freakin' awesome, and what I got was exactly like what you see in the pics on the site, so I assume that goes for the helmet aswell.
nice guy to work with! :cheers

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Measured my 95... compared them to Boba Maker's marvelous helmet and there does not seem to be a a great deal of difference .. which I think we all know cannot be right as you can tell just by looking at the two that Boba Maker's is bigger ... I'm going to try a different measuring tape .. this one is a bit dodgy !!! :doh

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
I, too, was under the impression that Bobamaker helmets were among the largest - Since my main reason for intending to buy one is that my current bucket's a tad too small for me...
So comparison pics would be greatly appreciated!

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
He says on the site that his helmets are movie accurate so i'm, hoping so also ,as I want to buy one,i'd be really p'd off if they weren't,but will email him before I part with hard earned cash!!!
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
This is in no way a slam to Bobamaker, but if his helmet is a pure sculpt it can't be movie accurate, as it no linneage to a real helmet.

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Someone who has one PLEASE Post a Comparison PIC already....
"Pictures People Pictures!!!!!"..:wacko

Sorry, but I don't claim on my website that my helmet is "movie accurate", I sculpted it and it has NO lineage to an original. I've been down this road before... please let's get facts right before posting here, thanks!
OK guys, I don't have a DP Deluxe helmet so I can't show a side by side shot I'm afraid, so I've attached a pic with some of the measurements of my sculpt (give or take a few mm). If anyone has a DP Deluxe that they can show with measurements that would be awesome.

I was always lead to believe that the main difference between a MS Helmet and DP Deluxe was the flare. I just visited Chris's marvelous site to view the comparrison pics, see what you think.

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
The original poster was asking about the difference between a DP95 and a Bobamaker though - Not the DP Deluxe.
I've seen the standard DP helmets, and they're awful IMHO.
Which is why I was confused at this thread, since I've always been led to believe that your buckets are among the bext one can buy, BM.
And the biggest...

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Sorry Bobamaker I meant to say movie "sized" not "Accurate",apologies for any misunderstanding there and if it's any consolation I will be buying one of your helmets in the near future, personally I like the way you have sculpted it with all the kinks in,that's what won it for me :lol

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Hmm...
That's odd.
My Judge Dweddz buvket ( Based, I believe, on a Jango original ) is 260mm from back to front, and 240 from ear to ear.
So the one I currently have is BIGGER than a Bobamaker!
:(
Bobamaker - How does yours compare, then, to the other helmets available?
This is odd, as I don't think I've got a particularly big head - Yet when I wear my current bucket ( Visorless right now ), my nose actually protrudes through the gap between mandibles...
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Bobamaker...I don't care if your bucket is movie accurate or not, It still ROCKS!!(The Armor does too!!)
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
I have to concur - It DOES look exellent.
But I need one that FITS!

I believe that the Jango helmet is quite different with it's proportions than Boba's, so if you have one that has roots to an original Jango then it isn't really going to help me to resolve this DP95 and my helmet issue.
I had a DP 96 for a while and I'm positive that it was considerably smaller than my sculpt, because it barely covered my chin (not that I have a big chin :lol )
We really need someone to publish the size of a DP95. In the meantime I will re-measure mine carefully and also measure my MS1, let's see how they compare, these are the only helmets I have in my posession at the moment. I'll show the results tomorrow.

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Cheers!
Is JudgeDweddz still around? Maybe he could chip in here and confirm the origins of the bucket I bought from Prymer via him :)

I've just measured my BM Helmet again but this time using the outside edges instead of the inner and it measures 258 x 242. There's no way a DP95 is this large.
Am I correct in assuming that the measurements you took of your Judge Dweddz Bucket were the outer edges?
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Nope. Inner, dude!
2 secs, I'll get a photo.
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
My don post 95 is exactly 241 back to front, and 236 from side to side. My mystery Helmet is 261X245
All measurments takin from outside rim

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Kinda hard to measure accurately with no visor in yet, but this helmet's 230mm ear-to-ear ( Sorry, typo earlier, I said 24 by mistake and didn't notice! ) and about 260mm back-to-front - Maybe a few mm short.
That's measuring from the inside.
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
And, yeah, I'm an idiot who needs to remember when he's working in cm and when he's working in mm!
Not that it affects this discussion any... Just makes my hands look tiny! ;)
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
So thats a difference of 7mil and 15 mil respectfully, this size anomaly could be to do with how flared the helmets are maybe, all the same BM's helmets look right and that counts for a lot.... :)
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
I measured my Rubies Jango bucket, the BM is basicly more flared, other then that, it's almost the same with a difference of 3 to 5 mm at certain points.
hmz... sorry Boba Maker, but I don't think I'll be buying your helmet kit then, since this one is a bit to small (im 1m87cm long, so I ot a pretty good form for Boba, but the DP en Rubies helmets look a bit small in comparisson to my body lenth.) I probably will buy your range finder, ear-cap an visor somewhere in the future, thnx for your assistance!
again, your sculpt looks awesome, but just not what I need.
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
The helmet scupt determines the helmet fit, not the mm of the width and length, my helmet is huge and its only 5 mm larger than BM's so dont judge it by hard measurments. Besides the Rubies helmets are not as deep.

I'm still around. The helmet I built is based entirely on JANGO referances. Since there are several subtle differences between the two, I didn't even look at any Boba helmets during it's construction, in order to stay true to the Jango look. I don't own any of the other Fett helmets, so I can't give you a good size comparison, but I know it's larger than a vinyl DP, and smaller than a M_S. To put it simply, it's about the same size as the one Tem wore in AOTC. Hope this helps.

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
I'm unsure as to why there is a debate over this! The Don Post/Rubies buckets are terrible (with the exeption of Rubies collectors Jango), they are deformed and seem to lack depth, not worth the cash! I've just ordered one of Bobamakers helmets safe in the knowledge that it's one of the best out there. I have several Rubies collectors Jango buckets for my fanfilm but as already pointed out, there are some differances between Jango's and Boba's helmets, so there is no point in comparing.
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
so.. what is the depth of the BM bucket??

No problem. I'm 1m 88 and my mannequin is about 1m 90 and my helmet looks right on both of us. I think the point that Cal196 made about the sculpt being more important than the dimensions of the bottom is a very good point. When my helmet is on my head my chin is a good 2" above the bottom of the helmet, but eveyone's head varies in shape and size.
Hopefully we've answered the original question here though, my helmet is bigger than a DP95... and learned a lot along the way
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
I know that I'll be getting one as soon as I can, looks like theres a helmet to fit at last !!!
and it will be nice not to have my nose touching against the visor for once :lol
Have to disagree about Don Posts being terrible... be it a 95, 96, 97.. give a little attention and they look quite good :)
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Yes people have made DP's look awesome, noone is questioning that. Still its soft viynl and the same attention directed at a fiberglass helmet can produce stunning results.
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
Indeed.. that is also very true :)
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
:) thnx people, especially BM himself, that last post made me wonderin.. maybe it is what I need...
maybe I will buy it, I mean, even if its still a bit to small, im startin a new Fett project soon, so I need a new helmet anyway, this version might just aswell start with an awesome BM helmet.

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
I'm sorry to take this thread on a slight tangent, but I was noticing people mentioning their height in relation to the rest of the costume. Obviously, you don't want people to have their heads in disproportion to the rest of their body - although it's kinda weird because I have a large head, but I'm only 5'8" tall. You don't think that will cause too many problems, do you?
But I'm glad this thread has come up because of the fact that I do have a large head, and obviously helmet size will be important for me.
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
It should not cause problems at all. I am 5'7" and have a normal noggin...once you get a bucket and try it on you'll think,"I LOOK LIKE THE BOBA FETT PALM TALKER!" The truth is once you get a jumpsuit, vest, and armor on it'll all come together.
All is well...:fettesb

I am also 5'8". The DP 95 I have, especially with my nose fits just fine with room to spare. Even with the metal hoop to bring out the correct flare.

Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
errr. hmmm, math is not my specialty, but if i did it right (the measurements and conversion from inches to mm), this is what I get from my DP 95:
Height: 9 1/2"
Earpiece to Earpiece: 8 3/4"
Front to back: 10"
Top Visor Rim: 6 3/4"
These are all approx. calculations. But it doesn't sound right. A little help? :rolleyes

I respectfully disagree with the all DP's are terrible. While the DP 97 is an abomination, the 96 isn't too bad and my 95 is a beautiful shape and size (for me anyway). Especially when you look at this picture:
http://www.bobafettworld.info/compare.jpg
A rubies Jango and my DP 95. Notice the odd deformed ear pieces on the rubies. It makes the bucket look ... odd...
The Rubies are all ****, from what I have seen and heard, but some people seem to make them work.
But that's just me.
-
Re: DP95 vs Bobamaker helmet
The bigger the bucket is, the better it's looking. I have a M_S and I'm just 5'7''. The bucket looks big on me, but this is what makes it realistic. :fettrotj
