Don Post Deluxe Boba Fett Helmet

Years ago, I was totally enamored with the DP Dlx helmet and while it is not the most accurate Fett helmet to ever grace the market, I have always had a fondness for it. Recently I had an opportunity to purchase a low number DP Dlx (#71) from an old TDH member, Tyler Durden.

I don't know how many of you have actually seen one of these up close so I thought I would do a good 360 of the helmet to show you what was once considered the cream of the crop (long before TDH came along).

These are extremely large photos, so please give them time to load.

The paintjob seems to vary quite a lot! The scheme on Art's helmet is completely different compared to mine and Metadude's, almost like it was repainted. I have number 230.

I love these lids...how is the size on these? Also, will you guys be leaving the paint job as is or a more accurate paint up?

BGHunter, I do have those pics and it is VERY cool to see this helmet in its very first iteration! Here is Don Post Deluxe #000!

Here is the helmet that always inspired me... because back in the day, prior to the formation of TDH, this really was consider to be an amazing helmet. I don't know what number this one was, but this is Dean O's helmet. You can see that his is actually somewhat similar to mine in regard to the paint.

Frenzy,

Your helmet has the signature look of the later era helmets. While I can't confirm it, I was told there were roughly 500 made and I don't know when the change happened, but the tell-tale, horizontal streak just above the brow band and and "E" behind the dent is very consistent with a lot of the later helmets, while the lower numbers helmets seemed to have very little consistency at all and it was a total guess as to what you were going to get.

You can also see that same style used on the helmets for the Don Post Boba Fett statue like the one below.

They are relatively small, but you have to consider how many generations these are from the original 2nd Prototype helmet that they originated from and all the cleanup and rework that was done to them.

I am not repainting mine. It is a little piece of history and lineage for me to go along with my various castings that have ties back to the 2nd Prototype.

Believe it or not, I also bought a DP Standard, just so I had the full de-evolution, from a casting right off the original all the way down to the DP 95.

... and no, I am not buying a Rubies..

Thought this might interest some of you. Here are the DP Dlx and the DP 95. These photos were taken back to back, with the same camera (on a fixed tripod), with the exact same lighting conditions. Everything is the same except the helmets, so this should be one of the most true comparisons of the two helmets you could get. It is very interesting to see them side by side and see the similarities and the differences.

Nice comparison shots A.A :)
And @dynamic1- No way in hell, my skill isn't good enough. Even if it was, I still wouldn't paint it. As A.A said above- they're a piece of fett history :)

EDIT: I just finished paying off my DP DLX boba- nearly $410 USD total (including shipping to AU) :D
