Don Post 95 a good start?

Hello!
I'm in the process of digging through my decade old boxes of Fett items I had accumulated when I was younger to see if what I have is still relevant.
I have 2 buckets still. I think the one is a recast altmanns?, which looks just bad all around at a glance. The second is a Don Post 95, the inside is white/cream colored and the edges are sharp as heck. I took a pic and used it for my avatar. In order to get it on I had to turn it and kind of twist it on otherwise my ears would have been halved. Now, 12 years ago this was considered a good starting point for a first helmet after some modifications. Does this still hold true or is one of the more pricier castings the way to go now?

All depends on how accurate you want the helmet to be and what you are planning to do with the helmet. If you just want the helmet to look like a Boba Fett helmet...well you already have that. If you want it to be screen accurate it will take far more work involved to make it accurate than selling that helmet and buying a better starter bucket from Animefan or someone else on this forum. This is my opinion, but you probably could ebay that helmet for about 80 bucks and buy a much better quality helmet for 180 to 200$. Clearly its your call considering what YOU want to do with the helmet.

I repainted my DP95, added decals, a visor and I'm getting an accurate rangefinder topper, and an MQ1 circuit board.
I think with the some work and TLC it can become a service lid. One day, i'll upgrade but until I get everything else done, I'm not going to worry about it too much. i'm also on the smaller side 5'8"-5'9" so while small, it doesn't look totally out of proportion as it would if I was a lot bigger.

This was exactly why I was suggesting buying a better helmet because after factoring in the rangefinder, circuit board, and dental resin points (if RoTJ) you are only talking a few dollars difference from selling the helm and buying a much better one. If I was spending days painting, sanding, gluing a new helm I would spring an extra 40 bucks for the better quality version.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I cant find any of the parts I took off from this helmet, but odds are they would be replaced with newer items anyway.

Is there still a "market" for DP95s? Mine would have to be sold sans range finder, ear cap and visor.

Aren't the white interior Don Post helmets worth more than $80? i see one on eBay now for $585.00!! Could just be eBay over pricing, since I do not know much about the Don Post values...

I think that is "mint". Mine, not so much. "Worth" is relative. I have a jet pack that is horribly inaccurate that I think I paid 300 for a decade ago that, to me, isn't worth NEAR that much.
