I thought we established the wave is more an illusion of the mind created by light distortions from the colors that are in that area?

Like BGH said there are also some small chunks on the right cheek bottom where it meets the upper cheek near the ear side and the left cheek where it meets the upper cheek on the visor side...and a few more on the left cheek in the same sorta location, and two on the back left side one bigger than the other

As for the cracks and such most ESB paintups are per the movie BGH there were no cracks present in the scenes of ESB maybe in ROTJ but not ESB

Nice side by side images Spidey!

You can barely see any difference at all size wise... just a tad... and when its painted up all the colors would make it seem less so.

I'm not sure when that was established recently..But a few years back Tylerdurdan posted a clear picture of the repair (anyone have that pic??), and I think it was established that there was a wave in the brow and its just understood that it was a repair of somekind...And from what I remember at C4 its there.

Here is the best shot I have of the repair.

Thats a great pic eplaining it alex, like I tell scott every other day learn something new everyday. In some pics it apears theres a wave, but in others it appears to be straight, its possible its a combination the silver and grey in that spot also makes it more prevalent I think as well like i was saying with the light...Are you adding the other crack and chips as well...I dont know how you would add the smashed cracked right one but the chips would be easy enough

I think most scratches on that right side will prob be added once the paint work is completed, would prob be the best way to show it as "hair-line" crack..
Heck I'll prob just take an exacto knife to the thing anyway as there's so much damage from mishandling.. LOL!

I don't know if this is helpful in any way... but when movies are filmed they're often done out of sequence. It could explain why the wave is in the brow in some scenes and others not (I'm not even sure of that - never researched it). At some point it was damaged and repaired... and POOF the wavy brow is in the film.

If we can trust the images in the gallery most of the helmet has in some degree a wavy brow.

The PrePro #1 and PrePro #2 has a slight wave in the right side

The PrePro #3 has also a slight wave and the ESB a bigger wave on the left side

I don't see it on the ROTJ helmet and I think we can't count on the Sandy (because of the severe damages it has).
This wavy brow thing might be because the way they fixed the visor into the helmet, but maybe not.

The only difference is this: if you want to see the wavy brow, then it's there, if you don't want to see it, then it isn't there.

Sorry for hijacking this thread (too).

The crack in question is there during ESB filming without a doubt. Nobody has yet put it into their replica as far as I know.

I have to completely disagree with that statement, sorry buddy.. its there, not because some of us agree and some of us don't... my examples are on the next post and pics below.

You might have something to that...

After speaking with FP, and reviewing all the high res pics (in the gallery and my own) I think Three things contribute to what we know as the "wavy brow".

#1: There is definately a repair or "Crack" of somekind, as shown in my previous pic on post #29 and the pic below.
#2: There is a "Paint Overlap" on the under side of the brow..(second pic below)
#3: The brow rim is thinner in that spot when compared to the rest of the brow as you move outward....(second pic below)

Agreed, I've always thought the wave on the brow was also there during filming, I think it's what gives the hero helmet on screen it's overall look.

But for this project I'm sticking to the AOSW version, mainly cause there's more reference material.

I'm 100% sure that the wavy brow is there! My statement was for those who see it and for those who don't see or don't want to see it... It's like if you believe in Santa Claus, then he exist, if you don't believe, then he doesn't exist. This is all in the eye of the beholder.

Alex you have done an outstanding job on that brow, for me personally though I also believe its a little less pronounced, though I can also appreciate that me looking at photos of it on a monitor doesn't give a true representation, I also think that a lot of the repair contour can come down to trimming and paint application, keep it up

    Agreed ... here's a Revised version.

    • Scaled back on the brow.
    • Reattached the right ear. (cracked)
    • Added the AOSW visor mounts.

Visor Mounts (taking a page out of Kbrosseau book..). Custom mounts drilled and tapped...still waiting on the correct screws to ship, but you get the Idea.

    FINALLY...READY FOR PAINT...

Sweet! Here's where the fun begins.

How are those visor clips attached to the cheeks? Epoxy? Super glue? Magic pixie dust?

And I will be applying the epoxy puddy to help secure them in... like the reference shows... just tacked them on for the picture.
