Chrome/Silver Undercoat - Reco the Best

There's a lot of debate around about the best paint to use. Starting new bucket and would like to get some opinions from you masters...

I've used testors metalizers on models, my concern is that they're not very durable - even with the testors metalizer sealer. I've heard of Rub & Buff and Alclad - but haven't used them.

I'm leaning toward good old Rustolium - but need some help on which is best.

Any automotive paints people can recomend as well?

I had the best luck using bumper chrome spraypaint.

I did mine by spraying a plastic sealer all over the helmet, then I used a silver spray can (for car etc). And then I airbrushed the all bucket using Tamyia colors, I was able to scratch the paint without scratching the silver paint (you can see the result here http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?p=404175#post404175 )
