Boxcar reds!?!

The second one. I believe the first is acrylic, and it says the second one is enamel.

The enamel is more of a brighter red, which is accurate, and the acrylic is like a mud red.

Thanks, I have both and I think I was using the enamal and that was the paint reacting with the silver, the other acrilic colors were fine.

Mine is also F110074. It looks excellent. Smells pretty potent too for an enamel. I thought it might have been a laquer at first wiff.:D

I used the acrylic and because it was a bit on the dull side I added some maroon to brighten it up just a wee bit. Perhaps I'll try the enamel on the next helmet.

Note that once I started mixing I tested plenty of times to make sure it matched up with my reference photos. Took a few tests and I finally got there.

Yeah you're going to want to get enamel for the boxcar red, the acrylic just doesn't turn out right.

JangoJr, what issues did you have with the Acrylic Boxcar red? Just curious. :)

I originally started using it on my first helmet, and I found it was way too dull and flat. I pretty much had perfect results when I used enamel straight out of the bottle. I'm not sure if anyone has better luck with acrylic without mixing anything in?

Yeah I think RS mentioned to me one time that the Enamel Box Car is what was used on the MR Master Helmet he painted....Which came out AWESOME...like you said, no mixing, straight from the bottle.
good call.(y)
