Thanks a lot boys for the encouragement! I'm working on the red face (as I like to say to the mandible-visor-ear-rim area) and it looks awsome so far.

Here's a teaser of it:

Updated the first post with the red face stencil. Not a perfect one, mostly because of the poor images with the back and side views of the helmet.

If I die from exhaustion, I will come back from the dead to finish the stencils. But that's not the case... Because of real life I have the impression that I'm moving too slow with the stencils. I want to see them finished, but must wait with patience.

First post updated with the Back Plate stencils.

Just added the Rear Keyhole stencils. Still to do the Dome and the Ear stencils. Much to go...

Finally I managed to do the Dome stencils. This was by far the hardest and most complex of all (PP1 and ESB). I need to rest my eyes for a couple of days until I do the color separation. I hope you like the stencils.

But they look awesome, I give you my permission to have a rest Just a tip, the white at the dent are scratches, the white drops at the left of your stencil, is unweathered silved (masked until the helmet is finished), and you see it white because of the flash washing it, keep that in mind

Nope, I was wrong, they are white drops of paint

Thanks a lot, KaanE! I know this isn't a perfect one, but because of the poor quality of the images is hard to tell sometimes which are the right scratch colors... In one image a particular scratch is light gray while in other image is dark gray. But everyone will use the color combination they think is the right one.

As you can see, the grey was applied just on a few spots and a really light coat, so... if the light is straight on the grey it looks lighter, and if not, it looks darker Also a light grey weathering was applied all over the helmet.

I might be wrong on this, but I noticed that the dent on PP2 is smaller than on the other helmets. It can be clearly seen the contour of the original dent.



Please correct me if I'm wrong...

You're wrong and not. The PP#2 dent is smaller than the PP#3, or ESB, because you know all of the dents were scratchbuilt and attached to supertrooper helmets. So yes, it's smaller (and also sharper), but it's not what you think it is, the yellow line is just a shadow, not the "original" dent.

If you look on the uncleaned GMH you will see the same mark of a partially filled dent. My guess is that they initially wanted a bigger dent and used a template to cut out the hole then they did a smaller scratch made dent and filled the remaining part.

I made a more profound compare of the ESB and PP2 dent and it's form and size match.

You might be right. What I said before was just my theory... Nothing much.

First post updated with the color separation files, except the one for the dome. This will follow tomorow... Also updated the text in the first post with the used colors.

Just in case you wanted to take a stab at the chest armor as well........I wouldn't be mad at'cha.

With the dent I totally see were you are getting the idea for that but you need to cconsider it like this,
All six helmets were originally dentless they decided to add a dent ,
a dent was made they then made a mold and castings of the dent, and made 5 dents that were to end up in the helmets,
to add the dents they needed to cut out the dent sized hole , it looks as though on the PP2 they went a little to far with the cutting ,
they made the dent with a lip around the out side to blend it in to the rest the PP2 has the most obvious proof tyhe dent was added but if you look closely on the PP3 you can also see were they did this how ever there isnt as much of an extra lip around the dent ,
Any way my point is the dent are all the exact same size and shape they look difrent (specially the ESB) becouse of the added white/light gray highlights on the dent but there all from the same mold

You are right jinto. Now I think too that all the dents are the same size (maybe not in the same spot, but close enough).

exactly seeing there all placed by hand the positioning is a bit of between them all the PP2 being the most previlant ,
and becouse up until the MR linage, most helmets had the dent placment of the PP2 there for we are most use to its positioning.

And these have turned out great , so have all your other stencils , great work

Added to the first post the Dome color separation files. Merged the Red Face and Rear Keyhole files. Added the Dome Top Area scratches as a guide to all of the top scratches. I think I put the top scratches a little bit to the front. Maybe I will change that...

Replaced the Dome Top Area image with a corrected one. Remember that this image is a flat view of the dome's top area and must use to fit mostly the top center and the surrounding scratches.

Love that dome top shot! Very nice work. I'll be studying these color maps closely alongside the reference pictures.

There is one amazing stencil made by evan4218 here Chest Armor Stencils and I think is the ROTJ armor from the MoM exibits. Or you are talking about the PP2 armor stencils? Not sure if I will do it... But never say never!

I love that too. I even put there the dental files #15 in the rear keyhole.

BTW, who makes the Sandy Rose? I can't find it on testors.

I don't know who makes this color, but I found it on a site of some color lovers (see at the first post).

Found something at this site Valspar Paint - Sandy Rose but I don't know if this helps.

Thanks for the kind words, but I first must do the ROTJ helmet stencils and maybe then I will do the PP2 armor stencils (althought this wasn't in my plans).

Made some corrections thanks to superjedi who pointed out some mistakes in the stencils. The Red Face and Rear Keyhole image and PDF files are corrected and replaced. I also replaced the Perspective View.

Well, as we were discussing, not "mistakes" but looking at photos from different time periods.
This helmet, like the ESB for example, apparently had more damage occur over the years.
Both templates would be good for people to choose whether they want to paint the helmet as it was first painted, or as it looks today.

I'm sure there are some extra scratches here and there, but as superjedi said, you decide which ones to use and not to use on your helmet.

BTW, I was wrong, the "scratches" around the dent is actually the filled dent as you said.

Yes, it looks like that, especially on the PP2 helmet.

Major update in the first post!

All image files were replaced with new and improved ones. The color separation PDFs will follow shortly.
At least 70% of the dome's scratches were redone from scratch and the remaining scratches were modified and improved. The red face area was modified also, especially the front and the ears area, but other areas were also corrected. Both cheeks and the right back plate was redone from scratch.

The first post was updated with the color separation files.

Well, actually the ESB blue pen marks were added post production while the PP#2 yellow crayon mark was on it ALWAYS
