Boba Fett/ Mandalorian helmet "T-Rex"

Hello my friends !
I'm Peter from Poland. I'm working on my own costume of Mando Pilot:
http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f34/mandalorian-pilot-project-41937/

For this project I've made mando helmet. But it is my own construction.
I worked on it for almost a year.
The dimensions, details and shape are very similar to the original.
Worked out all the twists and deformities of the original helmet.
But it is not DENTED helmet. Dent will be made as separate part for easy customising for each mando.

SOME HISTORY:

Prototype is made of polystyrene 2mm (bottom) and fiberglass/topcoat (top).

Next step was perfectionize of shape and making parts of ears and back panels

I did RF using Alan Sinclair's drawings. It seemed to be too large.
So, I
compared it with RF made by BobaMaker.
It was horrible. I have to do all
over again. 8mm difference in size !!

It is difficult to get a calculator Casio MQ-1, so I had to get to work.
Two days of work and I have a rear panel (pictured below, white).
It is not good to see, but I've painted (using cyanoacrylate glue) tracks on the plate.
I added a picture of the original item. Photo found on THD.

And.... tadam !! First, almost the entire set (without a transparent part of RF (almost done)
and a small window on this transparent part (BF version of ESB; part is done).

And now technology:

- the gear box adapted for mounting of Lego Technics gears for lowering mechanism of RF head
- RF arm made of 4mm Dibond - allows cordless supply voltage to the RF head.

My idea of a "development" of the left ear. As we know, the more electronics, the better

I do not have the original viewfinder frame of Polaroid camera, so I had to make my own:

I made in CorelDraw assembly instructions for my T-Rex helmet.
It's not finished and is in Polish but the English version will be soon.

Now I'm working on internal equipment (ears and back panels, etc), DENT for Boba Fett version.

Thanks :)
Three of my helmets are ready and used by my friends on StarForce 2012 convention. Here are some photos of these helmets (orange/silver, black/navy, green/yellow).
On first pic is my exhibition on SF2012 (including silicone mold, two ready made helmets and prototype) and pics of me during "customer support" on SF2012 (6:30am after "heavy before party") :).

On the last pic I'm standing with my friends - Kulesza brothers. They are my idols. They build very large SW SUPER models. The last one - Nebulon - length...4m

Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail! Well done friend.

Thank you for this good assessment of my work. It is pleasure to read this :)

Here you can join installation instructions in English:

In the future, the next pages will include the internal parts of the equipment (the side panels, the rear panel). I'm in the process of building prototypes of these parts.

You did a really nice job

FYI your installation method of the MQ1 is not accurate...only the half with the chip is used in the boba helmet...the bottom half is removed, and a bit of plastic is used to cover the holes for the dental files to be mounted to...or nothing in the case of ESB.

Awesome work, piotr! I love your attention to details and you are an excellent craftsman. Keep up the great work!

I think it's OK the way he did it, because this is more like a custom mando helmet (just look at the left ear with the electronics and the right upper ear assembly). But if you (piotr) want an accurate helmet, then go the way F4R described.

YES ! YOU ARE RIGHT !! :) BUT....... :)
But now it is MANDALORIAN helmet for making CUSTOM mando helmet AND for BF helmet (both version - added display for RF) . This set is ready for free modification and for customising. If is necessary, owner is able to make RF on both side. Gear box is suitable for installing for both sides.
In the future I'll make mirror ear panels Left->Right and Right->Left for more custom options :).
I made MQ-1 in this way to make options - what You want to do - panel for orthodox or ready for Your imagination :)).
Of course the BF dent is almost done. It will be suitable for self-pasting, or if You want, it will be done.
This helmet is made in "open Your mind" philosophy :D

Well considering your post is in the Boba Fett Helmet forum, not the custom mando forum...I figured i would chime in. Not knocking you or the work. Just more of a friendly bit of information.

I know :) and I'm very thankfull for Your all info and comments. It helps me to improve quality.
It is in BF helmet forum, because it is just BF helmet from start. All details, shape and dimensions of this helmet are very similiar to screen used helmet (without scratching). It was almost a year of collecting documentation, measurement, modification, working for perfecting shape and smoothing surfaces etc. But main idea is: It is BF helmet, ready for modifications.

This is an alternative end of Jango Fett. I know, Windu is not enough Afro American.... :D.

Wow...you just about put my amateur skills to shame; I can't match your level of detail. That is a very impressive display of craftsmanship. Awesome work!

Actuall run for my friends :D

10 helmets_small.jpg

One of them is lightly polished to check coldcast alu effect.
Now all helmets are made of fiberglass.

You do some really fantastic work Piotr, thanks for sharing. I was curious about the dome...was that a found part/modded helmet part, or did you make it from scratch? Either way I think it looks great

Thanks a lot :). Every part of prototype of helmet was made from scratch. It was A LOT of work but the most important was quality.
Now I'm preparing dented version. It will be available in april.
