Boba Fett Helmet Blueprints/Templates

:D ok got a lot done on my first bucket i used sheet metal and the baseball helmet idea needless 2 say it works wonderful. I thank you WOF for your ideas and templates.(y) lol
going to upload some pics as soon as i find the usb cable for the camera!

Thanks WOF. I'm about to get started with my poster board practice run. I'll follow up with a Sentra version. If anyone is still looking for Sentra then check around in your local area for a Mervyn's department store. They are going out of business and selling all of their fixtures. I bought all of their customer service and department signs for $40. They are 2mm (I think) and I came home with about 25 pieces that are 2' x 4'.

Here is the final version of the helmet templates. They will print out on 8.5 X 11 paper. I will be coming up with a tutorial as I start to put my own helmet together so stay tuned.

If you have any questions just let me know. If you decided to use these templates please post your progress, I’d really like to see what you folks come up with.

P.S. Solving the dome problem - batting helmet

Kripps and Kibosh came up with a pretty good option for the dome that should be really fast and easy. The first pic is the batting helmet cut into quarters lying over the template for the top of the dome. The second is a rear profile shot with a 2" piece of Sintra welded in between.

Alan, this is a wonderful template. I've printed the it out and figured out what goes where... I'm going to be making several of these helmets -- none of them Boba's, though. *heh* I'm still torn between straight custom or Fenn Shysa, plus a couple for my ladies' custom Mandos. I'm going to be using 18-gauge steel for the main skirt and cheek backplates, 16ga for the raised banding and cheekbones, as well as the frame on the back, and a couple of 25ga pieces for the cheeks themselves, so the total thickness of backplate and cheek is about 16ga. Still working out what I want to do for the dome. And since I have some rapid-prototyping setups nearby, I'm going to be making the earcaps and rangefinder stalk out of SLS Aluminum.

Yay big projects!

ETA: Forgot to ask... Alan, do you have 3D AutoCAD files for the earpieces and/or rangefinder stalk? Or should I get to work on translating the 2D templates into 3D models myself?

First post, I couldn't create a thread, so I hope this is an appropriate place to post.

I just finished the dome attachment and visor cut out steps... And for some reason, when trying on the helment my eyes are a good half inch below the visor slot...

Did I do something wrong? Is this common? Maybe a common solution?
:confused

Thanks a bunch!

Hmmm....sounds like you may have the front template alignment off (it's about 1/2" wide at the top); if anything, your eyes should be slightly higher than the slot, which you then compensate for, by using padding on the inside of the dome....;)

yeah sounds about right... you could also do what I'm going to do and expand the visor a little... to improve your FOV.

Id post this in a new thread but I cant for some reason, anyway this is my WIP custom bucket. Its nearly done, just have to paint the ear cap and run the wires for the fan.

Thanks for the templates! You are a genius! Took me a week and I finished mine with this. I seriously couldn't be happier. Mine is not near on par with the others here though, but I like it.
