A Blast From The Past! Squirk's MSH1 Mod and Paint Up

Here's a little trip down Nostalgia Lane for you older board members here. A Natty15d MSH1. Or just MSH for those of us old enough to remember it before the 1 was added to the moniker (thank you Fettpride for the MSH2. It's still my favorite ESB helmet). Kinda like those of us who are old enough to remember Star Wars before it was A New Hope. Anyway, I digress...Squirk has comissioned me to paint his MSH1 in an ESB paint scheme, and I will be doing a few modifications to it in the process. I will be replacing the keyslots with a more accurate resin cast that has the MQ1 molded in. I will also be reshaping the turn signals above the visor go a more screen accurate look. Here's how she looked out of the box...prep work has begun...:D

The name I do not see too much is MS/MS2/MS3, even less than MSH. It's always nice to see "A blast from the past"! :)

Well, maybe it's not a "state-of-the-art" helmet, but I don't care. I'll proudly wear and display it just the same.

Thanks to FFO$'s for taking on the job and for starting this thread.

I am. Still, it makes me laugh to think that when this helmet first came out, it was the definitive helmet - one to trump any and all contenders. Nowadays, who's looking for a Natty helmet anymore? I wonder how long it will take for the GMH to become passé.....

BTW - I cannot find my stalk or rangefinder for this thing. I know it's in my house somewhere, but I can't get a bead on it. So, to anyone who's reading this: if you know where I can get a good replacement set, please LMK.

Regards,

A little update: Still in the prep phases. Got the turn signals reshaped, the visor cut out, the ears glued on (still have some bondo-ing to do on those) and got the replacement keyslot installed. Just realized...I have to scratchbuild a borden connector for this thing!

Aside from the pics looking awesome, I just have to reiterate how great a job FFo$'s is doing in keeping me updated on the progress. A sure sign of a good guy and a quality seller.

Getting the 'Fjords of Norway' on the back shaped in and the U's on the RF ear painted. Also more lark grey applied to the front.

Well...she's done. Painted up in the 'As Seen In The Empire Strikes Back-ESB Scheme'. Thanks to Squirk for giving me the opportunity to paint such a classic helmet!
