Before I paint...

Elusive

New Hunter
Hi guys. This site is awesome. Has a whole bunch of information that I am learning. However, I am overlooking something that is probably common knowledge here, so I apologize for the stupid question.

I am getting close to getting my chipboard helmet ready to paint. Bondo is complete on the done. Do I need to put anything on it before I spray on primer?

Thank you guys!

You could spray an adhesion promoter if you would like, it will help the primer stick and will overall benefit your helmet. Totally not necessary though, but if you want it you can get it at an automotive store, I've seen it in the automotive department at Wal-Mart before also.

You should use some kind of sealer to keep the board from absorbing too much paint. Some people use Gesso, which is for preparing canvases for paint or some people use Polycrylic, which is made by Minwax. I have used Polycrylic and it works great.

yeah, what they said, I would not recommend it though, the difference is so minute only people like us can tell the difference, normal people that see you while you troop wont even notice if your kneepads are missing...true story
