Attaching RF & housing to Helmet

Hey guys! I have my GMH and I'm looking for the best option to attach the RF stalk and the piece of the ear that houses it.

My Terminal Fettler bucket uses a threaded rod for the RF, that's got a nut on the inside. And screws and rare earth magnets to keep that housing together. Is that the way to go?

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Yes do that. I use a chicago screw that is the right size. I used rare earth magnets to connect the cover of the RF ear. I had to larger disk magnets but two/ three small ones should suffice.

Hi there I used screw, check my work here:

I would recommend going from the inside, drilling a hole just large enough that there is no threading on the inner earcap, and threading a bolt into the stalk itself. I know some people tend to want to sandwich the stalk between the inner and outer earcap, but I just don't think that was the original intent and you are depending on the two halves to hold the earcap steady. A bolt from the inside the helmet which pulls the stalk into the inner earcap gives you infinite control over the tightness of the stalk as opposed to depending on the earcaps to do the job.

There is debate about it, but I believe that the outer earcap is actually screwed to the inner earcap from inside the helmet and have had success doing this with my own earcaps. While rare earth magnets are strong, you can't beat an earcap that is screwed together. After almost 5 years of sitting on a shelf, I have begun playing with one of my own helmets recently, and while it isn't perfect because the ears were machined inarticulately, I have managed to get a pretty close assembly. The only thing that I mentioned that is missing are the screws coming from inside the helmet through the bottom of the inner ear cap and screwing into the outer earcap. However, you can see the holes for them so hopefully you get the point.

On a side note, I am not sure what the dimensions are for the hole in the inner earcap and stalk are for the GMH replicas, but on the original earcap, the hole is just a touch over 1/4". On the ear I have on my replica (not the GMH) the hole was 5/16" so I used a 5/16" bolt for the stalk because a 1/4" bolt was too loose and caused the stalk to bind when turned. 5/16" is a pretty hefty bolt, and you could easily get away with a 1/4" bolt if the hole in the earcap isn't drilled larger than that.
