ASOK CC Paint up for TK6986 By Deadland

Alright here we have it one of ASOK's CC FP Budget lids. Great lid and everything is all molded on so there is nothing to attach except for the right ear cap. This will be your standard ESB paint up except that a few of my usual steps will be switched up.

So to start I have trimmed all the flashing off the lid and trimmed out the visor as well as getting it mounted. I also attached the right ear cap with earth magnets for easy removal in case there is ever a need to automate the range finder. Once that was done it came time buff out the CC and man that was fun especially since most of this week it has been in the high 80's at night not to mention that this is the first CC lid I have done. In all I think it turned out good and I will now spend the next couple of days masking out all the silver damage so that I can apply my primer coat and start with the rest of the colors.

Here are a few quick pics and more to follow in a few days.

I just purchased a CC lid from ASOK yesterday so I'll be watching closely as this will be my first Fett build.

Got mine from asok yesterday and they're great and affordable. Can't wait to start mine. Might have to buy a second one, just can't beat the price and his service is top notch. Thanks again asok for making these available!

All right after dealing with a passing in the family I have finally gotten a chance to get back on this bad boy. I have taken care of the silver, base metal, and gray areas. At this point I will now focus on the back side panels and get them completed by doing the concrete layer next followed by the last green layer. One thing that I have learned from letting this sit for a while is that masking fluid after time become more permanent than you would like. I have literally spent the last 3 night removing it with a razor blade there are parts that I will have to go back over later to make them more defined but for now I will press on.

Brilliant! I am needing one of these, like many, this is my first fett build well, my first costume build ever (other than my CM Punk bahaha). In terms of masking out bits, is liquid latex one of the best materials to use to get a good result?

Yeah I us Grafixx masking fluid and it works great can't go wrong with it. The only think that I have learned is you can not let it sit on the helmet for to long otherwise it will dry out.

Alright got some more work done. As it stand the back side panels are done and I will now be moving onto the key slot, trim and mandibles. As long as the weather continues to cooperate and cools off at night things should get moving again. Onto the pics.

alright got some more work done on this and know heading into the final stretch. the mandibles and back trim are done except for a few minor touch up spots that I will take care of tonight. So over the next week I will be working on the ears, dome, and upper and lower cheeks, with any luck I should have this wrpaed up by the end of next week and ready for shipment back to the owner.

    On to the pics.

This is looking awesome! I trimmed the flashing yesterday on mine and am waiting on a paint shipment. I too will be using magnets, but the ones that I have on hand seem a bit deep to sink into the earpiece--I think they will pop through the front if I tried. Might I ask what size mags you used, especially their depth?

Alright got the dome and lower cheeks done now onto the upper cheeks, both ears and the kill stripes. With my wife going in to have her gallbladder removed on Thursday I should have plenty of time to get this finished up as i will be taking time off to keep an eye on her. My hope is to have this ready to ship back to TK6986 by Monday or Tuesday.

    On to the Pics.

Alright this bad boy is just about done all that is left is a good black wash and adding on the decals. After that is done I will apply a few clear coats and ship this sucker on Tuesday pending owners final approval.
