As Jayvee mentions above, I've never had issues with Humbrol silver no.11 and subsequent layers peeling. The only problems I've encountered are with Humbrols metal cote metallics, avoid using these if you don't want a peeling mess...

Thanks for the feedback! I decided, as of last night, that I'm not going to take any chances with the dome/cheeks. I'm Resanding those areas back down to the primer, and going to roll with your process Jayvee (Thank You!). There's too much at stake at this point, and too many "areas of interest" to have messed up by a paint that doesn't work with the humbrol's. I actually got both the left and right upper cheeks done, BUT had another peeling issue on the left cheek (which I tried to fix, but only ended up making worse with the masking job over the black!

This bucket has given me several "lessons learned", but it's been a lot of fun so far! In my errors, I've noticed:

-Don't use a spray can silver for your silver layer, or at least run a trial on something else to see how your paint coats are going to react with the Lowes/Home Depot silver. Although it gives a sexy finish, it hasn't meshed well with the Humbrol paints!
-Take the time to resize your stencils if need be.
-Topically apply Grey 79 to the back panels and upper cheeks (it saves a day of waiting in both cases, and can lead to some instant gratification in progress towards your finished helmet!)
-Spend the time you need to in your prep work, you may find things later in the process that you don't want to go back and deal with when you're in "painting mode".

This is an awesome community here, I've much enjoyed watching everyone work on their projects, and been grateful for everyone's feedback on mine!

    Long Time, Here's the update!

First off, Jayvee, thank you for the input on the Humbrol Silver. It looks great with all of the other colors, and works great with the other layers. One thing about this color is that it needs the other colors layered on top of it to bring it out. By itself, it appears dull and un-interesting. Since the last update:

Masked and sprayed the dome and lower cheeks:
    -Silver 11
    -Grey 79
    -Green 78
-Left Silver/Grey masking on lower cheeks and sprayed Grey 106 along lower edges.
-Used Rafalfett's stencils for the majority of the damage, however the dent stencil only in the dent area seems a bit large. Appears to be larger because of the depth worked into 2D. Eyeballed my stenciling for this part.

    Masked and Sprayed upper Cheeks:
    -Silver 11
    -Matt Black 33
-Topically Applied Grey 79 along outline of silver damage (far easier).

    Masked and stenciled Kill Stripes:
-Used Rafal's Stencils as the outline.
-Tamiya 6mm masking tape is more or less the perfect separation between stripes.
    -liquid masked damage.
-Sprayed yellow 154 as the base layer, fading in orange 82 from the back.
-Pulling up the masking on this was awesome!

Began physical damage and other various details
-Had one small peeling issue with the large implied damage on the top part of the dome. I'm sure this will blend in better once wire wooled and clear coated. Other than that, this was my only issue.
-Touched up and refined all grey 79 areas
-touched up and refined all light grey 147 areas
-Mixed 1:1 grey 79 and black 33 for various details around dent and lower left cheek.

It's taking shape and has been very rewarding. I can almost see the end. Going to finish up the applied damage and whatnot on the dome, then move on to the mandibles. Hopefully will have the mandibles done by next weekend!

Also, I inserted my metal borden just to see what it would look like. This is a nice touch and adds some more interest to the piece! Camera seems to be adding a weird perspective to the helmet that is not what it appears to be in person. Hopefully can rectify with a better camera/lighting.

Looking superb bud! So happy you got your issues for the most part sorted, and partiularly happy you like the humbrol silver. Again, as you mention, it really changes the overall dynamics once the other colours are layered on top. It was exactly the look I liked from studying Garrets (TF's) threads, and definately looks awesome on your own lid..

And just how cool is pulling up that masking from the killstripes, and have it reveal the awesomeness underneath? Unreal my friend, keep up the great work!

Funny you mention! In my display case

Finished this in January, I still have yet to post the rest of the process. Sorry for the delay all who was following this. I was very satisfied with the end result. I'm waiting the weather to warm up before I take better pictures, with a much better camera outside. Thank you all for the awesome resources this site provided. I learned a lot of the processes, and was a very enjoyable experience (in addition to the things never to repeat again). More posts to follow when I get a chance!
