It could be two things, or a MSH recast or a scratchbuilt-recast mix helmet seen lately on eBay. Try to post better pics when you get it.

For the most part eBay = avoid.

Looking at that pic, the first thing that jumps out is the RF stalk. The thing is so bent it's almost a 1/2 circle. I would NEVER post a pic of something I made that looked like that unless I was showing off how bad I goofed up. To me, that reflect the level of care the seller put into the auction and the product. There's also no outer earcap shown in the pic.

I did notice the bent RF stalk, was going to replace with a aluminum one any way, it wasnt uber expensive either, its more of something to play around with and practice painting, unless it turns out to be a lucky find and is actually a decent helm. But who knows, itll have to wait until I get my hands on it, that and fett pride never returned my email so I figure this is better than nothing for now. But if anyone else knows anything about this bucket or has one of their own please feel free to shed some light on it.

Why not just go to someone like asok rather than taking the risk?

This whole cheap-on-ebay thing confuses me all the time. It's rare that one goes for significantly less than a kit from here, and almost always of questionable quality and origin.

Asok = honest, reliable, known, high quality, at a great value.

Ebay = unknown, unknown unknown with questionable value.

Easy choice if you ask me

I think its great how every one defends their chosen helmet makers, shows some great pride and loyalty! Unfortunately its not always as easy as googling Asok and pulling up the online store and ordering and I know how many people are adverse to posting the "go to this link -------- to get yourself a helmet" pages. This particular helmet that I have purchased comes from Hollywoodpropmasters on ebay. He's got 100% satisfaction and offers some other molds to include the predator and robocop. Plus I figure if this helmet does end up bombing, I could use it as my sons bucket for his mando suit, and Ill just work a little harder on getting my hands on a "name brand" Fett helm. But again, we'll see when I get my hands on it, Ill be sure to post many more pics and write up a full review of it when it arrives. Thanks again for all the comments, keep them coming guys.

    Yes and No.

Fettpride makes the GMH and the Fettpride Helmet, Fettpride sold his budget molds to Asok so Asok produces the FP/Asok Boba Fett helmet. Asok aslo produces a ILM cast Jango Fett helmet.

I have a Boba Fett helmet and two (well really 3) Jango Fett helmets from Asok. He casts his using a cold cast method which gives the appearance of metal once you sand a polish it. They appear grey when they are new.

Fettpride's helmet will appear white when they are new (and really clean too) because the are not cold cast. I believe Fettpride uses a fiberglass resin on his but some one can correct me if I am wrong on that.

Thanks!!! I love this community, really appreciate the help. If this ebay bucket doesnt work out (or I decide to do multiple fetts) Ill deffinately use these threads! Thanks again. And as Ive said before Ill post a full write up with pics when this one arrives, may take a week or two because its coming from the States and Im stationed in Italy right now, but as soon as I get it Ill go over every inch of it.

Or you could always save some money and make one yourself? Yeah it's a lot of work, but it probably cost me about 30 bucks in supplies to make the thing. WizardofFlight has some pretty awesome templates he posted up, used em for my helmet.

Re: Any thoughts on this helmet kit?

Well I had a nice long review typed out but when I hit submit I had been timed out and lost it all lol, so a quicker review of the main issues, my biggest gripe is the crack/ mold mistake on the back, but its not terrible and Im sure with a little sanding and filler its easily fixed, and the only other gripe would be the need to clean it up a bit around the mold edges, which I dont mind, it adds the the fun of the project- upon further inspection it does appear to be a MSH recast of some sort possibly. Now I havent had the opportunity to see a premo helmet kit first hand, so this is all I really have to go by, and I must say Im happy with what Ive got- a little effort, a good paint job and visor, aluminum range finder stock and this will be a **** good looking Fett helm. Here's to the begining of a great new project, now to decide whether to paint it myself or commision one of the great artists here at the dented helm to do it for me lol

Re: Any thoughts on this helmet kit?

You definitely could have done a lot worse! My first Boba helmet was an ebay recast. It was fiberglass, and had enough razor sharp stalactites on the inside to kill me!

If any one wants more info or a slightly more in depth review of this helmet let me know, as I mentioned, my super thurough review was lost in a time out, I can say that this helm is availible from hollywoodpropmaster on ebay and he is quick, he also has other stuff availible (Im eyeballing the predator helms he's got) Once I do officially start my build Ill open a new post and follow up with step by step pics along the way.

I was thinking about the same eBay bucket, but seeing the pics I'm going to keep with trying to get a cold cast from Asok. But I can't seem to get a message to him

Re: Any thoughts on this helmet kit?

No offense intended, but that helmet looks like hell! Hollywoodpropmaster, or whatever, is a recaster! He sells all kinds of recast gargabe, including the stormtrooper which is a horrible recast of an AP helmet. That helmet you bought wasn't all that much cheaper than Asok's, maybe 40 bucks less, so you really missed a good opportunity to own something of quality. Now you have something inferior and that requires a lot of work, plus you have a rubbery rangefinder stalk as apposed to an alluminum one - Asok even gives you an awesome visor to boot.
You came here to ask opinions yet went against everyone who pretty much pleaded with you not to buy off Ebay. Wierd.

At least it's not a warped Don Post lol (I'm actually working on a Don Post as my first helmet before I go purchase one of the big boy helmets). You may have some work ahead of you. But, with the right paint job and careful detailing, I think you could make a very promising helmet. Also, there are a few good sellers on ebay. Man of War is a great seller (I got a jetpack from him and it's awsome! It's also made out of roto cast resin.) and I personally like 'swprops'. I've gotten a flak vest from him and it's great! He tailors his stuff to size, does ESB ROTJ or custom stuff if he has the material to do so, and he make the stuff machine washable. I haven't bought any armor from him (yet) but he does honest good work on soft parts for sure!

Armydad - Make lemonade out of those lemons. You can chalk this up to a fantastic opportunity to become more aquainted with a Dremmel, Filler, Sandpaper, Primer....everything in your builder's arsenal. With some time, creativity and hard work, I'm sure you're gonna have a respectible bucket. Then, you can keep it as your FIRST, or off it and pick up one of the other recommended suppliers at some point. We've ALL contributed to the VERY LARGE learning curve that is associated with this hobby. Good luck to ya!!

Thanks for all the input guys, as for the "why didnt I just buy a trusted helmet to begin with?" comments, well the answer to that is easy, asok doesnt always answer his email in a timely manner, and Ill admit, I get a little impatient when I want to start a new project, so Ill chalk this helm up to my guinie-pig stage of my fetting fettish. but here's an earlier photo of what Ive been able to do with it, Ive done a little more detailing since this pic was taken and its looking pretty good, when I do finally get a nicer cold cast it will be awe inspiering.

    eBay helmet

I have one of these helmets & it seems ok. The rf stalk it came with was actually straight. I'm just about done painting it, & I'll try to post some pictures when I finish!

Holy hell, that's the same helmet?! I think you did a fantastic job on it! Don't let other people tell you what you "should" buy. You bought what was available and what you wanted and I think it turned out great! Nicely done!

Any thoughts on this helmet kit?

Armydad, where did you get the visior you used? I got one on ebay 1:1 scale & it didn't fit. I got another one on the way designed to fit the mystery helmets, which if the other members are correct on this dome's origin, should fit perfect. Any thoughts would help!

I used the laser cut Extended size SW from rembrandt studios on ebay, needed to do a little trimming on both the bucket and a tad bit on the visor to get it to fit. But it fit just right in the end. You can check out the build thread on the helmet in my other post mentioned a few post up, to see how I mounted the visor.

Check out my thread, my buddy bought the same one and all I have to say is MAN! It needs so much help. I was going to paint it for him but with all the problems it has I think he'd be better of buying a new kit. Hopefully you get a better cast and it was the same seller.

maybe I should have read the whole post before I posted....I'm a DA.

Hope it works for you AAA, I drilled the holes in mine with rounded file by hand instead of my drill to avoid breaking or cracking, it took forever but did the trick lol. Feel free to show us your BM visor, Im eager to see how it fits.

My glue of choice at the time was shoe goo, takes about 24 hours to fully set but its super strong, and still a little rubbery for just the right amount of give.

Another good maker of helmet is BGHunter, sure it would't be cold cast but at least you'd be purchasing a excellent product from another trusted member.

Id have to say that Fett Pride, Asok, and Boba Maker seem to be some of the more popular vendors of helmets, but I was un able to reach any of them and came across this helmet by chance, and picked it up. I have long since finished building the kit, here are my results- Im happy.
